This past week, I had the privilege of participating at the Mojaloop Open-Source Community Meeting held in Kigali, Rwanda. The Community Meeting provided a platform for DFSPs, regulators, and the private sector to exchange insights and strategies for building scalable, interoperable, inclusive and instant payment systems (IIPS).?It was also valuable opportunity to showcase the progress of our work on the Digital Financial Inclusion program especially, on money and inter-scheme flows within the COMESA region with the capability of ISO 20022 standards. Grateful to the Mojaloop Foundation and all stakeholders for fostering such impactful discussions. #Mojaloop #FinancialInclusion #DigitalPayments #Innovation #IIPS, #ISO20022. Mojaloop Foundation

A special thank you for all the folks that joined the Mojaloop Foundation community meeting virtually this week. We missed seeing you in person but appreciate you joining us via Zoom. And a shout out to our Director of Product, Paul Makin who spent a great deal of time online taking us through the workstreams and roadmap. Paul may look intense, but it just shows how much he cares!

Presented today at the Mojaloop Convening on Merchant Payments. Explained what an Instant Payment actually means—spoiler: it's not a fancy term for "cross your fingers and hope." Then, we did a little engagement exercise: Moja-Cola vs Coca-Cola. Turns out, people prefer their fizz opensource—Moja-Cola took the crown, while closed source (a.k.a. Coca-Cola) didn’t stand much of a chance. Guess padlocks aren’t that popular when it comes to innovation. Then came the demo… which, in true demo fashion, decided that now was the perfect time for a nap. No worries, though—I called for some Kigali music, and Mojaloop Foundation delivered. Honestly, I think the music made my points even stronger. And guess what? The demo eventually woke up and played. Seems the projector needed a little Kigali vibe, like a key to unlock its mood. Massive shoutout to the team for their incredible work. We’re not just talking about financial inclusion—we’re building it. One opensource fizz, one beat, and one instant payment at a time. Slides will be available on the Mojaloop Convening document repository for anyone who wants to relive the magic.
