Moiru's partner, Flávio Nakasato Ca??o, was one of the 30 participants chosen to take part in the 2024 Climate Change AI Summer School at Mila, one of the world's top AI institutes.
Today, I was reminded of the last day of the ?? Climate Change AI in-person course in Montreal this past August. And it occurred to me that I hadn’t posted any photos of this amazing event organized by the Climate Change AI team at Mila - Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute, one of the world’s top AI institutes. A week of lectures and prototyping, ending with a pitch. Nearly thirty carefully selected participants from dozens of countries around the world—I remember thinking, during one of the happy hours, that I had never been in a room with so many incredibly skilled people working at the intersection of AI and climate change. This year, I was the only representative from Brazil ????, but who knows, maybe next year there will be more Brazilians there? We certainly have no shortage of environmental challenges here (btw, there’s also a virtual version of the course!). Here’s the link for anyone who wants to learn more about this community: www.climatechange.ai (by the way, there will be a workshop at NeurIPS'24!). And on our side, this aligns 100% with the challenges that Moiru envisions: directing this powerful tool called AI to tackle urgent environmental issues. #AI #ClimateChange #AIforClimate #NeurIPS2024
