MVESD is honored to be invited to Washington, D.C. by the National Institute of Excellence in Teaching (NIET) to share our rural educational journey and participate in a transformative three-day conference. This experience allowed us to explore high-leverage tools that enhance instructional effectiveness and define excellence in common terms. Networking with successful leaders across the country, learning from their stories, and capturing replicable best practices has strengthened our ability to serve our students, staff, and community. This collaboration has created valuable opportunities for our teachers to enhance their instructional practice, ensuring students benefit from updated strategies that make reading more meaningful and relevant. We are especially grateful to ADE for traveling to our district to deliver in-person, differentiated training tailored to our grade-level and content teams. Big news! Camp Mohave Elementary is a first-time recipient of the A+ School of Excellence Award, as designated by the Arizona Educational Foundation! With hundreds of schools applying yearly for this prestigious honor, Camp Mohave has risen to the top—one of just 53 Arizona public schools to earn the A+ Award for the 2024-2025 academic year! Strong relationships are the foundation of student success at MVESD. This award reflects the dedication of our teachers, staff, students, and families and is a true testament to the power of working together. Great things happen when we support, challenge, and believe in one another. Camp Mohave underwent a rigorous evaluation to achieve this award, including an extensive written application and a multi-day site visit by a team of A+ Award judges. The school’s commitment to exceptional leadership, top-tier instruction, rigorous academics, and deep community engagement set it apart. As a 2025 A+ Award recipient, Camp Mohave will receive $500 and a banner to proudly display on campus, holding the A+ designation from 2025 to 2029! Even with this incredible achievement, Camp Mohave isn’t done yet! In the 2025-2026 school year, we will unveil the Discovery Den—an exciting new space designed to ignite curiosity, creativity, and hands-on learning. The Discovery Den will allow students to explore, collaborate, and engage in real-world problem-solving, reinforcing Camp Mohave’s commitment to meaningful, student-centered education. Why Not Our Kids? Camp Mohave Elementary School's achievement as one of the 11 finalists for the National Center for Urban School Transformation’s 2025 America’s Best Schools Award is a testament to the district-wide dedication of MVESD to educational equity and excellence. This prestigious recognition, awarded for the first time to rural schools, underscores the high-quality education and innovative approaches provided by MVESD. The district's success stems from its commitment to fostering an environment that supports ALL students' academic growth and holistic development. Camp Mohave's consistent top-tier performance, including maintaining an 'A' rating from the Arizona State Board of Education and ranking in the top 5 percent of state performers, reflects MVESD's focus on our Student Learning System, community involvement and a nurturing educational atmosphere.

Wheels-Up! Let's Go! Professional development in-service days are crucial at MVESD for empowering teachers to tailor instruction informed by data, ensuring that every student's learning needs are met. Our school calendar is intentionally designed to schedule these days, providing teachers additional time to dive in and create strategic learning plans based on what the data is saying throughout the year. These days enable the creation of targeted intervention groups, fine-tuning of pacing guides, and preparation for student success by addressing gaps in knowledge. In-service days also emphasize regularly checking student understanding and pivoting quickly to meet their needs. This is an opportunity to monitor and adjust our Student Learning System to respond effectively to what students are needing - acceleration? remediation? intervention? With the support of school and District resources, these days are integral to fostering a proactive, data-informed approach to enhance student learning outcomes and support our mission of making every student globally competitive.
