?????? ???? For resisting slavery and brutal defeat of French soldiers in 1804, Haiti was forced to pay reparations to the state of France ????. In the video below, a French citizen asked President Emmanuel Macron to return Haiti's reparations funds, calling it cruel and unjust. Haiti's ???? reparations payments to France is one of the reasons the black nation is still in economic doldrums till today. At a time, they were forced to take world Bank loan to settle France ???? The French government acknowledged the payment of 90 million francs in 1888 and over a period of about seventy years, Haiti paid 112 million francs to France, about $560 million in 2022. The actual amount paid to France is disputed by historians. Some said it's estimated to be about $300bn but the New York Times estimated Haiti's loss at a moderate $21bn in today's estimates. Why should Haiti ???? continue to pay? In the 21st century when all facts are glaring to the entire world, France ???? has the moral obligation to return Haiti's forced paid reparations. Why has France ???? refused to pay reparations to African countries? #haiti #france #black #history #blackhistory

??? Did you know that navigating zoning laws can make or break a commercial real estate development project? As CRE professionals, we're all too familiar with the complexities of zoning regulations. These laws not only dictate how land can be used but also impact project timelines, economic viability, and community relations. Here's what you need to know: ?? Understanding zoning laws is crucial for avoiding costly legal battles and ensuring compliance from the start. This knowledge can save both time and money in the long run. ?? Community engagement is key. Involving local residents and businesses in the planning process can build support for your projects and reduce opposition. Remember, successful development is about creating value for everyone. ?? Innovative approaches are emerging. Form-based zoning, which focuses on the physical form of buildings rather than their use, is gaining traction. This can lead to more flexible and adaptable urban planning. At BKREA, we've seen firsthand how mastering zoning laws can lead to transformative projects that benefit both developers and communities. Our team stays up-to-date on the latest regulations and innovative approaches to ensure our clients' success. What's your experience with navigating zoning laws in CRE development? Have you encountered any unique challenges or success stories? Share your thoughts below! ?? #CommercialRealEstate #ZoningLaws #UrbanDevelopment

#PRCMagazine Issue #114, Is Out Now! To read the flagship publication from ROF Media, click here: https://lnkd.in/g4aB3awn Architecture’s role in shaping the environment and its potential for positive social impact informs the content of this issue. Our issue is dedicated to Landscape Architecture and thank Alexander M Duggie, URBIS Limited, Managing Director, for penning the introduction which encapsulates our theme of embracing nature’s infinite potential to create quality liveable cities. Projects from Australia to China and Europe showcase some of the many innovative ideas that designers are conceiving to make our world healthier, and more sustainable as the climate catastrophe takes humanity into an uncertain future. Within an urban context we take a look at the positive social impact that architects can bring to the community with design solutions that enhance neighbourhoods at a district level. In the first of a series of features, in this issue we talk to onebite SOCIAL who are collaborating with the Environmental Protection Department to create compelling recycling centres throughout Hong Kong that the public have embraced, creating community engagement across the city.
