Today is #InternationalMensDay, and we’re shining a light on the incredible work mobile clinics are doing to improve men’s health in underserved communities. ?? A perfect example? Mount Sinai Health System's Robert F. Smith Mobile Prostate Cancer Screening Unit in NYC, which brings life-saving screenings to neighborhoods, workplaces, and even grocery store parking lots! Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the U.S., with Black men at even greater risk. In just two years, this mobile unit has screened over 5,500 people. Nearly 20% required follow-up care, including Brooklyn’s Virgil Kizer, who discovered his diagnosis on board. Thanks to this intervention, Virgil is now cancer-free. “By this bus showing up at my work site, it was just heaven-sent,” he shared. ?? With free screenings, 23-minute results, and follow-up exams, this mobile clinic is breaking barriers to essential care. Thank you CBS News for spotlighting this vital story and the impact of mobile clinics like this one.
