The Reality of Workplace Violence for Nurses: ? Recent data reveals alarming trends in workplace violence experienced by nurses, sourced from Campus Safety Magazine: ? 81.6% of nurses have faced at least one violent incident at work in the past year. 45.5% noticed an uptick in violent incidents on their unit in the previous year. Shockingly, only 3.8% saw a decrease in workplace violence. ? The types of violence nurses encounter are diverse: 67.8% have been verbally threatened 38.7% faced physical threats 37.3% were pinched or scratched ? Yet, only: 29.5% have access to staff at all times to handle violence 17% have additional staff to mitigate the risk of incidents. ?
