As a caregiver, it’s easy to focus all your energy on the person you’re caring for and forget about your own needs. A recent CDC study found that the health of family caregivers is worse than adults without caregiving responsibilities in critical areas of chronic disease, including higher rates of mental health issues and chronic health conditions such as obesity and arthritis. Remember, you can’t care for your loved one if you don’t care for yourself, too. CDC offers tips and resources to help you make self-care a part of your routine: https://lnkd.in/gG9hYrQm

Yesterday, MDH shared findings from the nation’s first state transparency initiative on the federal 340B Drug Pricing Program. The 340B program allows qualified safety-net hospitals and health care providers to purchase outpatient drugs at discounted prices that can be as much as 50% below retail pricing.?? ? MDH determined Minnesota’s participating providers earned a collective net revenue of at least $630 million for the 2023 calendar year. Based on national data, MDH believes this figure may represent as little as half of the actual total 340B revenue for Minnesota providers.? ? More information about the first step of this nation-leading initiative is available in MDH’s report to the Minnesota Legislature: https://lnkd.in/g3BSvbCe??

??? Keep it Safe, Keep it Fun! ?? Feasting with family is a holiday tradition—but food poisoning doesn’t have to be! Follow these simple tips from the CDC to keep your holiday meals safe and delicious. ? ?? Pre-Roast Rules: ? Avoid preparing any food for others if you have been sick with diarrhea or vomiting in the last 24 hours. ? Keep turkey in the freezer until ready to thaw. ? Thaw in the fridge, cold water or a microwave, never on the counter. ? No need to wash your raw turkey, the cons outweigh the pros and you usually just spread germs around. ? ?? Cook Your Turkey to Perfection: ? Turkey should be cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F to ensure it's safe to eat. No guesswork—use a thermometer! ? If stuffing was cooked in the turkey, wait 20 mins after removing the turkey from heat before removing the stuffing. ? ?? Don't Let Leftovers Linger: ? Cut into smaller pieces and put into fridge within 2 hours of eating. ? Eat the leftovers within 4 days. ? #FoodSafety #HolidayFeast #SafeEating

Just like people, pets can also get infections that need to be treated with antibiotics. Veterinarians are responsible for prescribing antibiotics if necessary, and for choosing them appropriately. Keeping up-to-date with your pet’s vaccines can help prevent infections that need to be treated with antibiotics. #USAAW24 https://lnkd.in/gNc8_7v5
