关于我们
The Minnesota GreenCorps program, coordinated by the MPCA, aims to preserve and protect Minnesota’s environment while training a new generation of environmental professionals. Each year, the program places AmeriCorps members with host site organizations around the state to help communities increase resilience to climate change by reducing solid waste and increasing recycling, reducing greenhouse gases and other air pollutants, reducing water runoff and improving water quality, encouraging eco-friendly behavior, reducing disproportionate negative impacts from pollution. Minnesota GreenCorps members serve their community, address critical environmental issues, and develop green job skills during their 11-month service term from mid-September through mid-August. Minnesota GreenCorps members educate community members and youth, coordinate multi-modal transportation events, remove invasive species, plant trees, install rain gardens, benchmark energy, conduct waste sorts, inventory trees, and more. These projects increase the resilience of Minnesota communities from the impacts of climate change.

March 22nd was World Water Day and this year's theme is Glacial Preservation. In Minnesota, we understand wanting to protect bodies of water-it is a top reason members join our program. For billions of people, meltwater flows are changing, causing floods, droughts, landslides and sea level rise, and damaging ecosystems. Learn more at www.worldwaterday.org. #worldwaterday #MnGreenCorps #AmeriCorps

Thinking about submitting a MN GreenCorps host site application in the waste reduction and recycling topic area? Members in this topic area assist with implementing initiatives to reduce waste, capture reusable materials, work with partners, and conduct surveys. For example, last program year member Zach helped expand Carver County's organics collection, established and promoted a deconstruction program, supported Minnesota Composting Council initiatives, and enhanced food rescue programming. The MN GreenCorps host site application is open through March 12th. For more information, visit https://lnkd.in/guvb4eb
