Annie, an energy conservation and green transportation member serving at Minneapolis Public Schools, spent the first month of her service term gearing up for a “Let’s Roll” bike event with the school district. In the lead up to the event, Annie visited 4th and 5th grade gym classes to assist with their biking units, utilizing the district’s bike fleet to teach safe biking skills to students. The impact of Annie’s service culminated at “Let’s Roll MPS” in October, where she biked alongside many of the students she had taught. In total, 200 Minneapolis Public School students, teachers, staff, and families gathered together for the celebration. We are seeking two members to join this topic area in 2025! 关于我们
The Minnesota GreenCorps program, coordinated by the MPCA, aims to preserve and protect Minnesota’s environment while training a new generation of environmental professionals. Each year, the program places AmeriCorps members with host site organizations around the state to help communities increase resilience to climate change by reducing solid waste and increasing recycling, reducing greenhouse gases and other air pollutants, reducing water runoff and improving water quality, encouraging eco-friendly behavior, reducing disproportionate negative impacts from pollution. Minnesota GreenCorps members serve their community, address critical environmental issues, and develop green job skills during their 11-month service term from mid-September through mid-August. Minnesota GreenCorps members educate community members and youth, coordinate multi-modal transportation events, remove invasive species, plant trees, install rain gardens, benchmark energy, conduct waste sorts, inventory trees, and more. These projects increase the resilience of Minnesota communities from the impacts of climate change.

I spent the morning at Elk River Lutheran Church to give a #electricmobility 101 presentation with Drive Electric Minnesota, as a Minnesota GreenCorps member. It has been so rewarding to educate the public on the benefits and current challenges of EVs and I enjoy all of the questions I get! #driveelectric #mngreencorps

We're kicking off our first quarterly training! Today, members will dive into topic area training including some awesome field trips. Tomorrow, they'll explore surveying and evaluation best practices, volunteer management, tribal relations, and break out into deep dives on co-design and project management.
