One month, two conferences! ? This month, Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority Vice President, New Horizon Traci Holton participated on panels at the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Airport Planning, Design, and Construction Symposium in San Antonio and the DBIA Design-Build for Transportation/Aviation Conference. She provided firsthand insight into the development efforts accomplished at BNA? through BNA? Vision and how those expansion efforts are being built upon through New Horizon to meet the unprecedented growth of Nashville and travel needs of passengers. Renewable energy at BNA? is cool - literally! ??????? In 2016, BNA made innovative use of a former rock quarry by transforming it into a geothermal lake plate system. With an average depth of 150 feet, at just 50 feet, the water is 50 degrees Fahrenheit year-round. The system circulates the cool water through closed looping and geothermal heat exchangers submerged in the quarry to the airport terminal’s central plant, providing cooling for the terminal. In addition to the geothermal system, the project enables the quarry water to be used for landscape irrigation.
