MMTC applauds the FCC's decision to adopt rules to facilitate directionalized service by FM broadcasters. This rule reform was adopted by a unanimous vote on November 21, 2024, having been championed for months by FCC Commissioners Geoffrey Starks and Brendan Carr, who pointed out that the rule change would be especially beneficial to small and minority broadcasters. MMTC President and CEO Robert Branson stated that “MMTC and other civil rights organizations endorsed the initiative because it will result in enhanced service to often overlooked neighborhoods and communities.”
