The importance of local leaders in building thriving communities with secure local economies is increasingly important. In today’s fast-paced world, and one that often feels less stable and less predictable than ever, the role of local leaders has never been more crucial. As we navigate challenges like economic uncertainty, social fragmentation, and environmental issues, the importance of strong, visionary leadership at the community level is rising. Local leaders play a pivotal role in creating successful, sustainable, and secure and thriving communities with dependable local economies. Local leaders are the backbone of our communities. They consistently work to understand the unique needs, strengths, and challenges that exist within their neighborhoods. The League’s Local Economies initiative explores entrepreneurship and small business support systems in southeast Michigan with the goal of helping municipalities and their communities create more equitable small business ecosystems.
