We were pleased to gather this morning with a number of defense industry manufacturers for the Wisconsin Defense Industry Council (WDIC) Summit at Leonardo DRS in Menomonee Falls. Since launching in December, the WDIC has served as a resource for defense industry manufacturers for advocacy, networking and more. We appreciate the Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) for partnering with us on this important initiative. Thanks to Farooq Mitha, Paul Knapp and Michael Morford for the engaging presentations today!

Creating a globally competitive Milwaukee region that fosters high-value employment to sustain a vibrant quality of life
关于我们
Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce’s (MMAC) vision is to create a globally competitive region that fosters high-value employment to sustain a vibrant quality of life for all. For more than 160 years, we have served area businesses as a private, not-for-profit organization. Today we represent nearly 2,000 member businesses with 300,000+ employees in Metro Milwaukee and beyond. Mirroring the region's business breakdown, more than 80% of our members are small businesses, employing 1 to 100 employees, while nearly all the region's Fortune 500 & Forbes 1000 are also members. United around the goal of ensuring long-term prosperity for both the community and its individual businesses, our engaged leaders take action and get results on impactful regional projects including Fiserv Forum, The Avenue, and American Family Field. Chamber membership provides access to numerous programs and perks, but at its core, you are investing in: TALENT: MMAC has been a long-time leader in building the region’s talent pipeline, especially for underserved and disadvantaged populations. We provide ad-hoc events and expert content supporting talent/workforce programming across an organization. EQUITY: Two years ago, MMAC launched a Region of Choice initiative, seeking to expand the number of Black and Hispanic employees and managers in Milwaukee-area companies. To date, 120 employers, representing more than 119,000 employees, have made the pledge to increase their overall Black and Hispanic workforce representation. GROWTH: We compete every day with regions around the country, and the world, to attract business investment and talent through the Milwaukee 7 (M7) Partnership for Economic Development. LIVABILITY: MMAC advocates on behalf of transformational projects that enhance the region’s quality of life, while seeking common-sense public policy solutions to ensure that challenges such as high property taxes, do not derail the region’s long-term future.

We're excited to visit Kenosha's new Pritzker Military Museum & Library as they welcome business leaders from around the region for their Business After Hours event on Sept. 19. In addition to seeing the museum, guests will have a chance to hear from Col. Andrew Scott DeJesse, Director of the 38G program and Leader of the U.S. Army's 21st Century Monument Men and Women Force - dedicated to continuing the legacy of a group of curators, architects and other cultural heritage specialists who served in the Army Civil Affairs Division and tasked to save many of Europe’s cultural treasures. Travel numbers in and out of MKE - Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport are on an upward trajectory. Local leadership wants to add to those numbers, and with it the region’s economic vitality, with a new international terminal. A number of those leaders, including MKE County Executive David Crowley, Airport Director Brian Dranzik, A.A.E., Visit Milwaukee President and CEO Peggy Williams-Smith, MMAC President Dale Kooyenga, Milwaukee County Supervisor Jack Eckblad and Milwaukee Tool Group President Tim Albrecht, joined together Friday to announce a federal grant application to help make that new terminal a reality. Fact is, the region is home to a number of companies who rely on international travel to thrive. Ease of travel in and out of MKE is critical for the region to compete and grow. #mke #economicdevelopment #travel
