Interestingly, at the end of last week, Bob Evnen, Nebraska's Secretary of State, posted a press release announcing that two referendums appear to be headed for the November ballot. The referenda would legalize medical marijuana and protect MMJ patients from prosecution. States with no cannabis program are becoming fewer and fewer... As new states join the movement, more capital is needed to build the required facilities. TODAY is the day for all our Ohio friends!
Ohio kicks off adult-use sales today! This is a roughly $600 million/year medical market that we expect to quickly triple in size. It's an MSO-heavy state, with 45 publicly-operated dispensaries representing 35% of the market. The current dispensary cap is five doors, and Green Thumb Industries (GTI), Cresco Labs, The Cannabist Company, and Acreage Holdings have the five-store max and a tier-one grow, which allows them to open three more doors. Ascend Wellness Holdings (CSE: AAWH.U / OTCQX:AAWH), and Verano have five doors with slightly smaller tier-two grows. Looking at the number of stores/enterprise value, Vext Science ranks 3x higher than anyone else—four doors and T1 grow—which allows them to add three more stores for a total of seven doors and a $75mm enterprise value.
