  • Tattooing meets mental wellness! Our next upcoming event, “Ink & Insight (Part 2)”, allows anyone to gain the perspectives of an experienced tattoo artist and licensed therapist on the ways in which tattooing can be a form of empowerment and self-love. A few topics we’ll be introducing: 1. Art as a creative outlet that brings purpose and mental wellness. 2. Interactions between the artist and the client, including Tina and Taylor's wholesome exchanges when meeting. 3. Impacts of creating a sense of trust and welcoming in the tattoo shop. 4. Embracing the vulnerability of being tattooed and allowing yourself to be guided by the artist's expertise. Hope to see you on February 4th! To access the zoom session link in which this discussion will be taking place, click the link attached to our LinkedIn event listing and RSVP for free.

  • Small-talk situations can be dreadful, and may even bring up social anxiety for some. In hospitality, having a function alleviates some anxiety. However, we do have those in-between moments as well where it feels like we’re waiting for the guest to approach and we’re not sure what to do. Our therapist, Taylor, suggests that when we feel anxiety during these moments we can confront it directly by intentionally making ourselves uncomfortable and facing more of these anxiety-inducing situations directly, That’s what the hospitality industry does for people and Thomas explains it well here.

  • Getting a tattoo that you're truly proud of can be a huge confidence booster. Expressing a story permanently on your body can be intimidating and transformational at the same time. Let’s dig into the process and meaning of tattooing as self expression with Mizu, our brand mascot and representative!

  • Therapists don’t often talk about their own stories or therapeutic practices, and we think there’s many who can relate to developing their identities through tattooing. A tattoo is a piece of authentic art that was drawn with intention, and it’s definitely a reason to embrace your body as a unique canvas of self-expression. Our licensed therapist Taylor has had several identity-empowering experiences through tattooing.

  • A tattoo studio serves as an area for healing, pain therapy, identity empowerment, and building confidence for the client, however, it’s up to the artist to create an environment that fosters these experiences with intention and care. Join us on February 4th in finding how Christina Harris, tattoo artist, collaborates with other artists at the tattoo studio to create a purposeful environment for the client. Hosted by the Mizuno Consulting team, we’re excited to invite you to the continuation of our Ink & Insight event series, where we bring in talented tattoo artists to speak about tattooing and its correlation with mental wellness, live through zoom. Mizu, our brand representative, has further information to share in these slides!

  • We often look forward to movies that are unpredictable, movies that bring out an unexpected theme through powerful storytelling. Although familiarity does foster comfort, there’s something about the films that take a little longer to direct, with a little more thought into character development and scripting. We’d love to share our curated selection of meaningful films, and offer a space to openly discuss tactics filmmakers use to amaze audiences in these films. Mizu’s book & film club is about collaborating in a group dynamic setting, sharing unfiltered opinions about a book or film agreed upon for that month. Each individual's unique perspective allows others to notice things through a different lens. Take a peek into Mizu’s film curriculum!

  • Although many are fictional, books help us relate to life experiences through perspective narration, and character development. These relations may guide us to realize who the supporting characters are in our own lives, gaining insight into the reasons behind life’s events. By exploring the stories of others, we can achieve a deeper, more aware understanding of ourselves and the world around us. Yet, how often do we talk with others about it? We may have friends who read, but we all relate differently to books and circumstances, and are not always comfortable talking about it on a personal level. Mizu’s book & film club is an inclusive space made just for that. The club provides a space for everyone to share and relate their experiences with the characters in a common group. We chose books with exceptional narration around character identities, emotions, thoughts, etc, so readers can connect with the stories meaningfully. Also being recent bestsellers, each one of our book choices has its own purpose and was curated for specific reasons. Take a look into Mizu's book curriculum!

  • Gaining live insight from a Clinical Psychologist or Pleasure Mentor already sounds appealing, but a licensed Therapist having thorough conversations with both is even more exciting. This Wednesday, two more live discussions are coming between seasoned professionals. This presents the opportunity to listen in on personal stories and professional experiences that were regular catalysts in building up a career or identity. We’d love to invite any professionals who may find these topics intriguing! Check these slides for more information, and view our event listings through our LinkedIn page! Please RSVP through our website to secure a spot.

  • Skimming has become the new way to read, but sometimes a plot goes much deeper than the surface level, revealing a writer's true intentions. There’s always hidden lessons in well-written books and TV shows that can only be discovered with an analytical viewpoint. Mizu will be hosting a book and film club designed to educate folks about character development, captivating audiences, and emotional connection, through a tailored selection of stories. Meetings will take place on the 2nd Wednesday of each month: The first hour is dedicated to exploring the book chosen for each month and the second hour will be to decipher the film for each month. A few examples of books we’ll be exploring: Normal People by Sally Rooney, The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides, Pachinko by Min Jin Lee A few examples of films we’ll be analyzing: The Bear, The Queen’s Gambit, Inception You can find the registration link with more information on our website: https://lnkd.in/dzaU3ZVU

  • Join us for our second event on October 23rd! Kiana Lewis and Dr. Taylor Mizuno-Moore will be addressing biracial intersections and experiences, sharing the formation of new perspectives while growing into their racial identities.
