Inclusion is good! So, why is it seemingly so hard to accomplish. American society, and humans in general, are really good at excluding each other. Why is that?! In many cases, and for much of history, it's specifically been white men excluding others. Diversity is good! We thought of a really simple metaphor to ponder - FOOD! What would eating be like without diversity? Boring as hell! Imagine a produce market where everything is white; or a part of town where you live that has dozens of restaurants that all serve the same thing - literally; or candy - what about candy?! These are all examples of how we take diversity for granted when it comes to eating. While the acronym "DEI" may be controversial, it's worth contemplating the definition of each individual word.
