Last Thursday, Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) Director Brian L. Love went to the Michigan Veteran Homes at Chesterfield Township (MVHCT) to donate gifts from the Veterans Giving Tree. Each star on the tree represents a gift requested by a veteran member or a life enrichment gift that would improve the quality of life for a group of veterans. Michigan Veteran Homes offers quality long-term care to veterans and their eligible family members.
关于我们
Michigan Veteran Homes (MVH) is the administrative entity that operates the state’s veteran homes on behalf of the Michigan Veterans Facility Authority and is a branch of the Michigan Department of Military and Veteran Affairs. MVH strives to ensure that quality long-term care is provided to the veterans and their eligible family members that live within the Homes. High quality care for this phase of life is central to the “member for life” concept that DMVA embraces. The MVH operates the Michigan Veteran Homes at Grand Rapids (MVHGR), the Michigan Veteran Homes D.J. Jacobetti (MCHDJJ) in Marquette and the new Michigan Veteran Homes at Chesterfield Township (MVHCT).

Thanks to our friends at the Bob Woodruff Foundation and the Detroit Lions for inviting, recognizing, and honoring some of our WWII #veterans from Michigan Veteran Homes at Chesterfield Township yesterday at the game in #Detroit. The sincerest of “Thank-Yous” fails to do sufficient justice to the incredible generation of patriots who stood tall, served, and sacrificed on our behalf at places like Omaha Beach, Midway, Battle of the Bulge, Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal, and so many others. Nonetheless, we’re hopeful – at the very least – that the way we as a society treat and care for those still with us from this special generation, demonstrates to them that they reside amongst a grateful nation, worthy of their sacrifices. We're serving those men and women who've served us, with the exceptional care and quality of life they earned, and deserve.

We’re fortunate to celebrate service every day of the year at Michigan Veteran Homes. However, we’d be fibbing if we tried to tell you Veterans Day isn’t uniquely special at MVH, too. MVH at Grand Rapids’ day included a waffle bar, a visit from Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, a generous donation from Meijer, music from the 126th Army Band, a dessert bar provided by the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) ‘Got Your Six’ employee resource group, and more music from the band Big Cadillac. MVH D.J. Jacobetti’s day included a special #veterans dinner, a salute to #veteran members, staff, and volunteers, cookies and more from LEO’s ‘Got Your Six’, fruit trays from Resolve Surgical Technologies, and more. MVH at Chesterfield Township’s day included a visit with songs from Naldrett Elementary students, a ceremony with 21-gun salute, dessert bar from LEO’s ‘Got Your Six,’ a candlelight luncheon, and live music for veteran members by Joe and Jim DeHenau. And, many other visits, doughnuts, coffee, cards, #generosity and shared gratitude from our communities. Indeed, it takes a #community to appropriately serve those who’ve served our nation. Thank you!

Michigan Veteran Homes was grateful to join the 2024 Michigan Military & #Veterans Gala this past weekend, hosted in downtown Grand Rapids. Thanks to generous sponsors, skilled nursing members from MVH at #GrandRapids were also able to attend the event and enjoy a wonderful evening celebrating service.
More than 350 people were in attendance at this year's Michigan Military and Veterans Gala at the L.V. Eberhard Center in Grand Rapids on Saturday, November 2nd. The Gala is the state's premier event that honors both those who have served our state and nation in uniform and those who advocate on their behalf. The 2024 Michigan Military & Veterans Gala was presented by the National Guard Association of Michigan, Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency.
