We had launched the DS Specialist System, a new career pathway for data scientists (DS), in February 2025. As the number of digital transformation (DX) personnel in the company increases, the newly launched system will provide a concrete career path where highly specialized personnel can demonstrate their abilities, making it easier for them to draw up long-term career plans. By creating an environment where their expertise is valued, it will improve our DS' technical knowledge and motivation to contribute to projects. In fiscal 2021, we had set "improving digital literacy" as a basic strategy for promoting DX in VISION 2030 Long-Term Business Plan, and in order to transform the organizational culture to one that is data-driven through improving employees' digital literacy knowledge and cultivating personnel with specialized skills, we defined four DX personnel levels (level 0 to 3), and created a human resources development plan based on the skills to be acquired at each level. With the operation of this system, DX personnel at level 2 or above can aim to become DS Specialists by gaining practical experience, and will be given treatment according to the level of their data science expertise (see Table 1 in oeiginal press release). In the future, we plan to proactively certify personnel hired from outside the company as DS Specialist. We have jointly developed a highly durable fixture rail for store displays with TANSEISHA Co., Ltd., using the sliding rails from Sakushin Kogyo Co., and have begun demonstration experiments in actual store environments. The newly developed fixture rail is made from a high-performance plastic material that offers superior durability and wear resistance compared to conventional metal rails. It is lightweight and easy to process, allowing for greater design flexibility. The demonstration experiments are being conducted in collaboration with several retail partners. The aim is to evaluate the performance of the new fixture rails in real-world store environments and gather feedback from retailers and customers. The experiments will focus on assessing the durability, ease of use, and aesthetic appeal of the rails. Based on the results of the demonstration experiments, we plan to further refine the design and manufacturing process of the fixture rails. The companies aim to commercialize the product and make it available to retailers in Japan and other countries.
