Before MIT Sloan, Jack O'Brien, MBA '25, co-founded a software company helping early-stage founders raise funds remotely – amassing 5,000 users and eventually was acquired. With that kind of win, what's next? A new venture? Join another startup? For Jack, it was business school; specifically MIT. “MIT was the school that made sense for me with its focus on entrepreneurship and engineering. It was the only school I applied to, and I would have taken a job offer if I didn’t get accepted.” We joined Jack for the day to see what life is like for a student exploring the intersection of entrepreneurship, AI, and climate tech. Sloanie Spotlight ? | Muele Barisua Wilcox, ACCA, MBA ’25, originally deferred a year to reflect on her enrollment. During that time, she kept in contact with the MIT Sloan community. “The humility and genuine interest in my success was unmatched!” Now as co-president of MIT Sloan’s Africa Business Club, she’s returning the support to both current and future Sloanies. “[The Black Business Students Association] and ABC have been the spaces where I feel like myself, I love a good community and ours has been the most welcoming,” she says. “…I believe every community is only as strong as we make it.” The goals of ABC – to ensure African students and allies have the necessary exposure, resources and support to drive change on the continent – reflect some of Muele’s own goals for her career. “I am hoping to have a career that is impactful and enables the creation of access to resources, opportunities and bridge the gap.” Learn more about Muele’s time at MIT Sloan and her advice to prospective Sloanies below!

Excited to celebrate Sofie Netteberg and Chris Johnson (LGO Class of 2025), who won 1st place at this weekend’s MIT Climate and Energy Hack! ???? Competing against 56 teams, they partnered with MIT PhD students from the Department of Material Science and Engineering and the Operations Research Center to tackle a challenge posed by Palmetto, a residential solar company. Their winning project, Incenzo, is a live tool designed to direct MassSave’s $12B green incentive dollars into low-income homes, maximizing emissions reductions and advancing climate justice. By aligning public and private goals, they created a solution for utility companies to reduce emissions while achieving profitability targets. Rami Chamoun's, MBA '26, career has revolved around building ventures and addressing challenges within the Middle East and North Africa region. Even after graduating, Sloanies are keeping in touch with the MIT community ?? tinyurl.com/2vwj2mnt Kristen Ellefson, SFMBA ’23, and Bindu Chanagala, SFMBA ’23, are an entrepreneurship duo who cofounded nurtur, a startup aimed at mitigating postpartum depression through AI, while at MIT Sloan. Since graduating, they regularly return to Cambridge – networking with professors, speaking in entrepreneurship classes, and talking to women at MIT Sloan about their product and journey. “In my Entrepreneurship and Innovation seminar, I heard Kristen’s nurtur pitch and immediately I felt like I had to go talk to her,” says Clemence Couteau, MBA ’25, who was soon hired as head of nurtur’s product strategy. “I was working in healthcare before I came to MIT Sloan and wanted to complement my science background with a business perspective, and nurtur hit the intersection between my interests within women’s health, digital health, and mental health.”
