Our Mitie colleagues volunteered at StGeorge's Trust planting fruit trees. This is part of our ongoing commitment to promote recycling awareness to our 10,000 hospital colleagues and local residents. Fruit Trees play a vital role in the natural recycling of oxygen, producing wood and paper. They also contribute to the creation of eco-friendly products like pens, tote bags, and notebooks. This initiative was sponsored by Mitie Communities and Capital Gardens. #MitiePeople | #Sustainability | #ExceptionalEveryDay

Did you know cities are hotspots for air pollution? This is due to tall buildings trapping harmful emissions in ‘street canyons’. Discover how Biotecture are using infrastructure like living walls to improve air quality. #LivingWalls | #EmissionsIntelligence | #Sustainability
Cities are hotspots for air pollution, with tall buildings trapping harmful emissions in ‘street canyons’. But what if we could turn those very walls into a solution? A study carried out by researchers at the University of Birmingham in 2012 showed how living walls can significantly improve air quality in urban areas by reducing pollutants like nitrogen dioxide (NO?) and particulate matter (PM10). The research found that: ? Green walls can cut NO? levels by up to 40% in street canyons ? PM10 concentrations dropped by up to 60% when walls were fully covered with plants ? The air-cleaning effect was strongest when pollution was at its worst – a natural buffer against peak pollution levels! Air pollution remains a major challenge in cities worldwide. We think green infrastructure like living walls can and should be part of the solution. #LivingWalls | #GreenWalls | #Greeninfrastructure | #AirQuality
