I'm pleased to share that Lamarr.AI, a startup born from our collaborative research at Georgia Tech, MIT, and Syracuse University, has secured $1.1 million in pre-seed funding. This journey began during my doctoral research at MIT Building Technology Program, where I worked on the AirBEM (Aerial Intelligence Retrofits for Building Energy Modelling) research project with my thesis advisor and mentor Prof. John E. Fernández. Reflecting today on all those long discussions with my friend and colleague Tarek Rakha, who continues to inspire me till today, where we'd excitedly ramble about the potential of aerial tech and AI in urban sustainability. Together with Dr. Senem Velipasalar, Prof. John E. Fernández, we laid the foundation for what has now become Lamarr.AI. We focused on developing AI-driven solution for building envelope diagnostics, aiming to create more efficient and accurate assessments than traditional methods, combining our expertise in building science, computer vision, and energy modeling. This funding round marks an important step in our mission to improve building energy efficiency. It will allow us to further develop and scale our technology, potentially making a substantial impact on how we approach building performance and energy efficiency.
