#AI and #Copyright law update: Yesterday, in Thaler v. Perlmutter, the D.C. Circuit affirmed that works created solely by AI are ineligible for copyright protection. The Court upheld the Copyright Office’s denial of registration where a generative AI was listed as the sole author. While the decision leaves open future questions about AI-assisted works, purely AI-generated creations remain unregistrable under current law.
