关于我们
Proto Ventures creates startups from technology and research within MIT. We believe that many potentially world-changing inventions remain on the lab room floor. Proto Ventures seeks to be more deliberate about identifying venture opportunities at an early stage and cultivating those ideas to solve the world’s hardest problems.

Thank you for the shoutout to MIT Proto Ventures in your new post about finding cofounders, Gigascale Capital!
Senior Technology Leader | MIT PhD | Built Strategies, Teams, & Products from Seed to Series D | Climate Tech Focus
Venture studios often treat the founding team as an afterthought once the startup idea is already in place. This is a mistake. In their most recent blog post, the folks at Gigascale Capital share some good advice about finding and vetting a cofounder (URL in the post comments) ???? #venturestudio #cofounders

Our #VentureBuilder David Cohen-Tanugi at #CERAWeek speaking about commercialization of fusion energy technologies
Senior Technology Leader | MIT PhD | Built Strategies, Teams, & Products from Seed to Series D | Climate Tech Focus
Large-scale deployment of fusion power plants may be years away, but the #fusionenergy industry is already spending $600M+ per year on supply chain. This opens up plenty of opportunities for researchers, entrepreneurs, and large corporations to get in early on addressing emerging supply chain needs in the fusion sector. A big thank-you to Richard Pearson, Charlie Baynes-Reid, and Andrew Holland for discussing this fascinating topic with me onstage at CERAWeek 2025.

Hee Yau, Phoon was an MIT Sloan Fellow when he joined Proto Ventures in an effort to apply his experience in the energy sector to a new venture. Here's a look at his experience in MIT's venture studio, which included a summer with MIT's delta v accelerator in the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship. https://lnkd.in/eTwGkbhV #venturebuilding #renewableenergy #venturestudio

I recently had the pleasure of co-hosting a #criticalminerals themed dinner with Gigascale Capital's Haley Prout. My key takeaway? We need a new "MIT Critical Minerals Club"! ?? From graphite production to solvent extraction of rare earth elements and advanced sorting of scrap metal, the group dinner conversation with some of the brightest minds in this space made it clear to me that there exist plenty of big opportunities to help improve how we use and recover the key materials needed for a clean energy transition.

Following up on my previous post, I had a fascinating public conversation about #India's energy transition with Arunabha Ghosh, Shardul Fadnavis, and Atul Mulay at the Pune Public Policy Festival last week. Many thanks to all of those who shared input in my post comments last week! Credits to Anushka Shinde for this thoughtful visual summary of our panel discussion.

MIT Proto Ventures' very own David Cohen-Tanugi will be speaking at the Pune Public Policy Festival in India this week. We look forward to a thought-provoking exchange that will leverage MIT's leadership position in clean energy technology commercialization! ????

???? I'm heading to India this week. I'll be speaking at the Pune Public Policy Festival (@puneppf), on a panel titled: India’s Transition to Green Energy: Should India Follow or Forge Its Own Path? I have many thoughts on this thorny question as a clean energy technology professional and as someone who has spent considerable time examining this question for China. But as a relative newcomer to India, I'd love to hear other people's thoughts. What are the most common misconceptions and the most important emerging trends when it comes to India's energy transition? Please share thoughts and useful resources in the comments section ???? #india #puneppf #energypolicy
