I am forever thankful for Andrew Lo and MIT OpenCourseWare. I can remember the first time I stumbled upon the ever-eloquent Lo's GFC lectures (linked here - https://lnkd.in/eqzuHhPT ) it was 4 AM and I was starting my studies on the CFA - I was 1-year out of college, unemployed and hungry for any opportunity. This lecture inspired me to go on - this lecture series and Andrew Lo's book Adaptive Markets taught me that financial engineering could be used for good and that all the choices in this vision of the world we build together are within our control. Our grasp on destiny is vast and we possess different skills but together we can create more for all of us. What Andrew Lo REALLY taught me in the end is THAT IT IS UP TO US!!! Many know my journey within a year of that 4 AM study session I was working at the highest levels of finance meeting the people whom I had previously read about in books. That sent me on a series of unlikely events that led me to meet some of the most amazing people in the world at MIT Open Learning starting with Curt Newton -- and so many others who make this broad and daring mission a Open Learning thrive and continue including Duyen Nguyen, Y. N., Brett Paci, Sarah Hansen, Elaine Mello, CTS, Anjali Sastry, Megan Mitchell, Camila Massa Aaron Kessler Shira Segal, Ph.D. I know even now I am missing names! The real-world impact Massachusetts Institute of Technology and MIT Open Learning have on the world is immeasurable. To name a few groups close to my heart MIT OpenCourseWare, MITx MicroMasters? Programs, and MIT Jameel World Education Lab are at the forefront of innovation in education! We will look back and wonder how these programs were possible! During this journey - I met Emmanuel Olimi Kasigazi and from our first encounter I knew there was a connection that we could amplify! We needed to meet more people like us, so we did! We created a community of Open Learners that we stay in contact with today! And every episode is great with unique twists on what it means to be an Open Learner!!! A special thanks to the Open Learners and the STARS ?? of the show Maria Eduarda Barbosa, Jae-Min Hong, Nader Al-Etaywi, Jerry Vance Anguzu, Lotfullah Andishmand, and Sujood Eldouma I will link the episodes in the comments below! To whatever comes next, if you can support MIT Open Learning please consider giving during the 24-hr challenge today (March 13th!!) and think about the future learners you will impact! https://lnkd.in/eY7__SzR https://lnkd.in/eBKcM9t2
