MIT AeroAstro's Rea Lavi ?? is working on a chatbot teaching assistant that provides personalized feedback to learners. ?? Personalized learning through physiological sensing ?? MIT Media Lab's Nataliya Kosmyna, Ph.D and Pattie Maes are developing a platform that adapts lessons based on brain biofeedback, keeping learners engaged. ?? Bridging the vocabulary divide through personalized tutoring ?? McGovern Institute for Brain Research's John Gabrieli, Ola Ozernov-Palchik, Fabio Catania, and Satrajit Ghosh are creating a conversational tutor to help young learners from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds boost their vocabulary. ?? Supporting social-emotional learning in refugee children ?? Together with Fabio Catania we are developing a speech-based, LLM-powered conversational tutor to enhance vocabulary knowledge in third and fourth graders from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. Why vocabulary? Vocabulary knowledge is a key predictor of reading achievement and academic success, yet disparities persist and widen over years of formal education. By leveraging AI, our tutor provides personalized, scalable instruction, adapting to each child’s needs and progress. Excited to continue this work!
