Are you an experienced journalist or editor covering #climatechange? This course may be for you! Our MIT Climate Pathways Project has teamed up with the Thomson Reuters Foundation (TRF) to offer training with the #EnROADS climate solutions simulator, co-developed by Climate Interactive and MIT Sloan School of Management. En-ROADS is offered as an add-on to TRF's "Reporting Climate Change" course, designed to help journalists prepare powerful but accurate reports, inform their audiences without sensationalism or alarmism, and bring home the likely impact of climate change to their audiences' lives. MIT’s “front door” to evidence-based climate research for local, state, national and international policymakers
关于我们
The MIT Climate Policy Center’s mission is to serve as a trusted, non-partisan resource for policymakers who wish to advance evidence-based climate policy in the next decade. It facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration among the various MIT academic departments, centers, and initiatives spread across the Institute that address the climate crisis and determine how their research can be used to educate and support policymakers. It will also incentivize academics to form relationships with policymakers and the media. International, federal, state and local policymakers are encouraged to contact the center to identify existing research or to begin work with world-class researchers to develop targeted projects that could inform the development of new rules, regulations, or legislation. Members of the media may also seek out the world’s leading experts on climate technology and implementation for sourcing purposes. MIT has announced the launch of the Climate Project at MIT, an Institute-wide initiative to develop, deliver, and scale up climate solutions as quickly as possible. MIT Sloan will play a critical role in this initiative. The school recently announced a $25M investment to jump-start the MIT Climate Policy Center, which will utilize the Climate Project at MIT’s research and technologies to help inform and support policymakers.

Increasing transmission between regions in the US power grid would dramatically improve grid reliability during extreme weather events, lead to cost savings, and reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. In a new report, Audun Botterud, John Parsons, Christopher Knittel, Juan Senga, and Drew Story, PhD evaluate four policy options for increasing interregional transmission and explain the projected impacts of each.

?? The second edition of the Earth Action Report is here—bringing together expert insights to drive real change. Our own affiliated faculty member John Sterman joined together with 99 others (including MIT Sloan School of Management alumna Kate Williams and research affiliate and member of the MIT Climate Pathways Project Florian Kapmeier) to deliver collective insights, key priorities, and concrete solutions to accelerate systemic change in 2025. From John in the report: "Carbon pricing and cap-and trade schemes incentivize everyone to reduce emissions, and—crucially—rebating all the revenues to the people as a “carbon dividend” ensures that low-income individuals come out as winners since they typically have a lower carbon lifestyle and benefit from rebates. Not only does this advance climate goals, it helps those in need and stimulates the economy." Co-created by ChangeNOW and KPMG this report is a must-read for climate policy leaders The report highlights five key priorities for systemic change in 2025, the barriers, and the real solutions that can drive progress. ??
