Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Climate Change and Real Estate Symposium on October 4 & 5. It was an insightful and engaging two days of presentations from researchers addressing critical topics such as climate adaptation and land use, urban greenery, climate refugees, the economic impacts of extreme weather, climate risk pricing and insurance adaptation, how climate infrastructure affects housing markets and so much more. ? We also extend our gratitude to the panelists of the Industry Roundtables on #ESG and #Climate Risk, whose impactful discussions bridged the gap between research and industry. ? The real estate sector's vulnerability to, and contribution toward, climate change invigorates the need for innovative research at the intersection of both fields. Organized by the Climate and Real Estate Research Hub, this symposium brought together over 60 leading global researchers working on these important issues. Special thanks to our event team:?Yichun Fan, Siqi Zheng, Panita R., Denise DeLorey, and Joanne McHugh. ? Leveraging Science, Developing Innovation
关于我们
MIT founded the Center for Real Estate in 1983 to improve the quality of the built environment and to promote more informed professional practice in the global real estate industry. Educating the men and women whose innovations will serve the industry worldwide, we are home to the first-ever one year Master of Science in Real Estate Development (MSRED) degree, as well as an integrated suite of professional development courses. Our pioneering research investigates the real estate transaction from initial concept to market reality, providing breakthrough knowledge that helps organizations to capitalize on today's dynamic markets and technologies. Uniting industry leaders with MIT's distinguished researchers and students, our selective industry partnership program advances the art and science of international real estate, and bridges the gap between theory and practice.

Thank you The UK Innovation Corridor for the kind words on Prof. Kairos Shen.
The UK Innovation Corridor is delighted to congratulate Kairos Shen, associate professor of the practice in the MIT Center for Real Estate, who is to be the new Chief of Planning for the City of Boston.?? Kairos hosted the World Real Estate Economic Forum at MIT, #Cambridge Massachusetts, in June of this year,?at which Jackie Sadek, Chair of the UK Innovation Corridor, was invited to speak as an expert participant. ?? Kairos Shen is a well-known and highly respected figure for his previous two decades of productive work in guiding Boston’s planning and development efforts. His deep understanding of the city’s varied neighbourhoods and community needs enabled him to engage effectively with developers and residents to shape the city in beneficial ways. Mayor of Boston, Michelle Wu, announced the return of Kairos Shen to City Hall recently, in her annual mayoral address to the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. ?? Denise Delory Industry Liaison Head at MIT commented: “A very sad day for the MIT Center for Real Estate and a brilliant move by the City of Boston!” ?? Jackie Sadek said: “Kairos took me on a most informative tour of Boston when I visited in June.?He showed great support for the UK Innovation Corridor by generously sharing his deep expertise into how real estate meets science, in the twin cities of Boston and Cambridge, with key developments such as Kendall Square and Route 128. I have seen firsthand his true passion for the City of Boston.?They are lucky to get him.” KPF #reimaginerealestate #mitcre #mit #futureofwork #affordablehousing #innovationhubs #sustainablebuilding #cityplanning #policy #development #realestate #technology #finance #economics
