This afternoon, Blueprint’s School Access and Quality Fellows joined one of several regular webinars to learn in-depth about enrollment research. Blueprint Affiliate Viola Corradini presented on school quality ratings in New York City. Her research shows that providing families with easy-to-parse ratings like certain letter grade measures may lead to better, more equitable outcomes for students. What factors shape student success in elite economics PhD programs? A new working paper by Blueprint Co-Director Josh Angrist and Marc Diederichs examines the role of advising in graduates’ post-PhD publishing. They find that advisor research output predicts advisee publishing, though coauthoring with advisors has no effect. Program size also has little impact – on the margin, graduates from larger cohorts publish about as well as graduates from smaller cohorts. Learn more in the working paper: https://lnkd.in/eJufcwQC

This afternoon, Blueprint hosted our seventh Charter School Research Collaborative matchmaking session to give researchers and practitioners the opportunity to meet and build the foundations for new partnerships. ? Matchmaking is one of several ways in which the Collaborative supports more actionable, rigorous charter school research rooted in strong research-practice partnerships. We also recently opened our third request for proposals, through which we will fund policy-relevant projects studying topics such as how charter schools affect long-term and non-test score student outcomes, which charter practices have the largest effect on performance, and more. ?
