Welcome to the Physics Department of Missouri S&T!
关于我们
Our department offers an undergraduate BS degree in physics as well as graduate MS and PhD degrees. We have strong research programs in astrophysics; atomic, molecular and optical (AMO) physics; as well as condensed matter and materials physics. Our AMO physics program is the only such program in the University of Missouri System. Our astrophysics program houses the only LIGO (gravitational wave) research group in the state.

The First Year Research Experience (FYRE) program of our college kicks off today. Fourteen of our new physics majors are participating - more than half of the class! They will be working on research projects and receive one-on-one mentoring from faculty members. Thanks to all the faculty who designed projects and will mentor the students.

For National STEM Day last Friday, over 40 highschool students visited Dr. Hyunsoo Kim's low-temperature lab for demonstrations and hands-on activities. Outreach events like this are made possible through the work of a team, from first-year undergraduates to graduate students: thanks to Agrim Gupta, Pranesh Sundararajan, Harshit Agarwal, and Gabe Duncan (pictured)
