I have the honor to be the recipient of the 3rd Clyde E. Kesler Education award from the American Concrete Institute. This award is the consequence of a cause I take at heart at ACI, but this would not have been possible without the help of many others who are involved in the young member retention task group since Dallas: Andrés Matos Ortiz, PE, Megan Huberty, Sriramya Nair, ACI staff members Kanette Worlds, CAE and Melinda Reynolds, CAE, and all others contributing to the development and implementation of our plan. This would also not have been possible without the support of current, former and upcoming ACI presidents, the ACI board, and all other volunteers involved in this strategic goal. Research Highlights: Focus: Studying fuel microdroplets ranging from a few to 50 micrometers in size Goal: Understand microdroplet dynamics in extreme pressure and temperature environments Application: Improve performance of scramjets, detonation engines, and rocket engines Program Officer: Dr. Li Chiping ?? Implications for Aerospace: This fundamental research has far-reaching implications for the development of hypersonic vehicles and space travel. By comprehending the behavior of fuel at the microscopic level, we can potentially enhance the efficiency and capabilities of next-generation propulsion systems. ?? Innovative Approach: What sets this project apart is its comprehensive methodology, combining multiscale modeling with droplet-scale experimental components.
