Great day to host Missourian and 1972 civil engineering graduate, Gary Forsee, who spoke with our senior seminar today. He touched on his career as CEO with Sprint Nextel, the evolution of technology, his presidency and leadership within the UM system, building energy efficiency and what role we play in our global economy, the value of teamwork and much, much more. ?????? As we celebrate a century of excellence, from 1924 to 2024, we invite you to join us in honoring the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department’s centennial. Please mark your calendars for two special events. On Friday, October 25, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., we will host a celebratory gathering with cake in the lobby of Emerson Hall to commemorate both the ECE centennial and the founding of HKN. Then, on Saturday, October 26, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., please join us at the Innovation Forum, Innovation Lab, for breakfast and a presentation by university historian Dr. Larry Gragg. This presentation "The Long Road to Success" will describe the history for approval of the EE degree and EE department at the Rolla campus. Tours of the HKN Student Project Laboratory and the W0EEE Radio Shack will be available on both days. This is my Fall Semester 2024 Prestress Concrete Design Course Group Photo to thank PCI Midwest, Mike Johnsrud and Industry donors for covering the cost of the PCI Design Manual for each student in my class. Prestressed Concrete (PC) is probably my favorite class to teach because of the strong educational and research experiences I received from the great late Dr. Ned Burns and Dr. Ramon Carrasquillo at the University of Texas-Austin. Even at the 25-1/2 year mark at S&T, nothing is better than the impact we have on these talented young students. I know both Ramon and Ned are smiling down knowing that the impact they had on me is being paid forward. I can still hear Ned telling all of us at Texas to do our part to "plant trees". I can't wait to see the impact these incredible students will have on society! #PCI #ASCE #ACI #PayItForward

We are pleased to announce Dr. Mohamed ElGawady as our new interim chair! Dr. ElGawady joined the faculty in 2012 as an associate professor and was promoted to professor in 2018. He has won multiple awards for his excellence both as a researcher and in the classroom. He also serves as the Alard and Sheri Kaplan Faculty Scholar. https://lnkd.in/gWB6q5cA
