Missouri S&T Chemistry

Missouri S&T has been recognized as an R1 university. This is a great news for the chemistry department and our campus in general. Thanks Shelley for explaining the impact of this recognition.

Our Chemistry department students continue to make us proud. Margaret Taiwo, a PhD graduate student in Dr. Michael Eze's group has been awarded the much coveted Younger Chemists Travel Grant from the ACS Analytical Chemistry division to present at the upcoming ACS Spring 2025 Conference (March 23-27, 2025). Her poster presentation is entitled “Bioaccumulation patterns of PFAS in different tissues of grass carp fish”. Congratulations Margaret.

The chemistry department is extremely grateful to our alums who not only carries forward the training and education received here into their professional lives, but helps spread the legacy of our excellent educators through their generous donations. Thanks Drs. Ming-Shian Wu and Justina Wu, for their donations enabling the Ken Robertson memorial professorship.

The chemistry department is proud to share that one of our esteemed colleagues, Vadym Mochalin, has been recognized as top 2% of the scientists two years in a row. Congratulations Vadym.

After 23 years at the University of Mississippi, I am excited to share that in September 2024 I will be transitioning to a new position as the Donald L. Castleman/FCR Missouri Endowed Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Missouri University of Science and Technology! It has been a privilege to serve as a faculty member at Ole Miss, and I will always be grateful for the opportunity to work with so many amazing students, faculty and staff. I am looking forward to building new relationships in the S&T community and establishing new collaborations for research and education.
