The Division of Youth Services is honoring the life of Loran Hume, a cherished member of our team. His journey began with DYS as a Youth Specialist in 1986, bringing invaluable experience and a heartfelt compassion for others. Loran’s promotion to Facility Manager IV at the Montgomery City Youth Center (MCYC) showcased his steadfast dedication to the youth and the community. Loran was not just a mentor; he was a beacon of hope for countless young individuals. He actively collaborated with community leaders to create meaningful opportunities for them, demonstrating a profound understanding of the challenges they faced. His innovative spirit was evident in the establishment of the first Dual Jurisdiction treatment programming at MCYC, a testament to his dedication to providing comprehensive support for youth in need. Even after retiring in 2013, Loran’s passion for helping youth never waned. He returned as a Community Mentor, making a significant impact in both residential care and the wider community until his recent passing. His relentless advocacy for young people, combined with his ability to inspire and empower them, left an indelible mark on their lives. As we remember Loran, let us honor his legacy by continuing to support and uplift the youth he so deeply cherished. His absence will be felt profoundly, but the positive influence he had on those he encountered will resonate in their hearts forever. https://buff.ly/QeEIefx

Very informative! Thank you Dr. Miller!
The doctor is in! ???? We got a question from a follower about identifying frostbite in people with darker skin tones. Our chief medical officer, Dr. Heidi Miller, breaks down the different ways frostbite can look and feel. Take note of any changes as they happen. Limit your time outside as much as possible during these dangerously low temperatures, and if you have any concerns, call a health care professional. Resources are linked on our page! ?????? #Frostbite #FrostbitePrevention #MoWx #Snow #Winter #WinterWeather #FollowerQuestion #TheDoctorIsIn

Mother Nature has made her presence felt once more, and regrettably, our walk-in hiring event scheduled for February 20, 2025, in Kansas City is cancelled. We appreciate your interest in the Division and will be hosting another walk-in event on February 27, 2025. The forecast is looking promising, with temperatures expected to be above freezing, so we’re optimistic! Applicants who were scheduled for interviews on February 20, 2025 will be contacted by team members to confirm if they are able to maintain their appointments on the 20th or to reschedule their interview to another day. #PutYourPassionToWork #KeepingKidsSafe
