Brian currently serves as a team member on the Missouri Feral Hog Elimination Partnership removing feral hogs from the landscape. Brian implements the most efficient and effective methods to achieve the task. As a licensed drone pilot, Brian utilizes thermal camera technology to assist in locating difficult to find feral swine. Brian has been in this role with MDC for nearly 2 years! Brian's favorite part about his job is that no two days are the same. Each day in his job brings its own set of sights and challenges. Something you may not know about Brian is that he has worked for MDC before this role. After being separated for a while, Brian came back to specifically help eliminate feral hogs and help benefit the resources of Missouri. Some of his most memorable have been the elk restoration project, the quail focus area, or even some of the special project grants. He enjoys getting to work across regional lines to support private land efforts! Her daily tasks can vary widely, such as sampling fish on the river, banding wood ducks, chain sawing, and even delivering fish across the region. Welcome to Workforce Wednesday! Every Wednesday we will be highlighting a different career opportunity with MDC. This week we are highlighting a Recreational Use Specialist, Lafe! Lafe is currently our Recreational Use Specialist for the St. Louis Region. Lafe has been with MDC for 12 years now! Lafe's favorite part about working in his role is getting to work with great staff and partners on how to make our Conservation Areas more welcoming to everyone who wants to visit. Hunters, anglers, and horseback riders are just a few of the user groups he gets to work with. Lafe enjoys the variety our Conservation Areas provide each day with. You never know what kind of request you might get. Something you may not know about Lafe is that he has been a youth sports coach for 10+ years. He has had the honor to coach mostly Football and Basketball for a variety of age groups ranging from 1st graders to 8th graders. He really enjoys coaching the youth and seeing hard work build confidence and love for a sport or activity.
