Salt may keep walkways safe in winter, but overuse comes at a high cost. Every ton of salt used causes $1,700–$17,000 in damage to infrastructure, from sidewalks and parking lots to flooring and vehicles. ???? ? Salt also degrades soil, kills plants, and leads to costly landscaping repairs in the warmer months. The reality? More salt does not mean more melting—using the right amount keeps surfaces safe while preventing unnecessary damage.
