Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot that forms in a vein, usually in the leg. Join us March 1 at The Westin in Jackson, MS to see Dr. William (Bill) Evans of North Mississippi Medical Services and Treasurer, Mississippi Healthcare Alliance, Board of Directors, present "Stroke Intervention Cases: Rapid Diagnosis, Timely Treatment, and When to Transfer". Dr. Evans received his medical degree and a Ph.D. in psychology from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. He completed his residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. Dr. Evans is the medical director of the Stroke Program for Singing River Pascagoula and Singing River Ocean Springs. Dr. Evans is board-certified in Neurology and Vascular Neurology.

SPEAKER SPOTLIGHT! Dr. William H. Crowder of Jackson Heart Clinic will be presenting "Complete vs. Culprit Only PCI in Acute MI." Born and raised in Grenada, MS, Dr. Crowder attended Millsaps College where he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in biology. He attended medical school at the University of Mississippi, pursuing training in internal medicine and cardiology. Finally, Dr. Crowder underwent a year of additional training in advanced interventional cardiology techniques at the Medical University of South Carolina. There he trained with national leaders in the interventional cardiology community with an emphasis on atrial septal defect/patent foramen ovale repair as well as techniques for treatment of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. He is active in multi-center research trials, staying at the forefront of medical technology. Dr. Crowder is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology. His memberships include the Mississippi State Medical Association, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Cardiology. He is a fellow of the College of Cardiology. He has been active in the medical community and is a past member of the board of trustees of the state medical association. He attends St. Richard’s Church with his wife, Kimberly. When he is not working, he enjoys reading and playing music. He is an accomplished pianist and works with his father on various record projects. Dr. Crowder is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology. His memberships include the Mississippi State Medical Association, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Cardiology. He is a fellow of the College of Cardiology. He has been active in the medical community and is a past member of the board of trustees of the state medical association.

SPEAKER SPOTLIGHT! Meet Tim Henry, MD, the Lindner Family Distinguished Chair in Clinical Research and Medical Director of The Carl and Edyth Lindner Center for Research at The Christ Hospital. Dr. Timothy Henry is the former chief of cardiology at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, one of the country's most prestigious medical institutions, and is a pioneer in the treatment of myocardial infarction. At Advancing Cardiac and Neurological Care in Mississippi, Dr. Henry will present "Role of the Microvascular with Focus on ANOCA and MINOCA", "Selected Issues - Cardiogenic Shock 2025" and, "From Cardiogenic Shock to Sepsis: Comprehensive Care Throughout the Hospital Stay (Panel Discussion)". Dr. Henry has published over 350 manuscripts and book chapters and has served on the Emergency Care Committee for the ACC, the AHA Mission: Lifeline Advisory Committee, the AHA Acute Cardiac Care Committee, and the ACC Interventional Subcommittee. His research interests include interventional cardiology, acute myocardial infarction, and novel therapies, including stem cell and gene therapy, for patients who are not candidates for standard revascularization techniques. He has served as principal investigator and steering committees of multiple large, multicenter research trials in acute myocardial infarction and refractory angina. He is principal investigator for 1 of 7 NIH Clinical Cardiovascular Stem Cell Centers and has one of the largest research programs in the world for cardiovascular stem cell therapy. He is a fellow at ACC and master SCAI and a member of Alpha Omega Alpha and the AHA Council on Clinical Cardiology. Meet Joshua Mitchell, Associate Professor, Medicine Cardiovascular Division, Director, Cardio-Oncology Center of Excellence, and Co-Director, Amyloid Center of Excellence, Washington University School of Medicine. He will be presenting "Cardio-Oncology: Treating the Cancer While Protecting the Heart" and "Cardiac and Neuropathic Effects of Amyloidosis" at Advancing Cardiac and Neurological Care in Mississippi on 3/1 @ The Westin in Jackson, MS. Dr. Mitchell is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. He received his BS in Biomedical Engineering and Mathematical Sciences from Johns Hopkins University and MD, Medicine with Distinction in Research at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dallas, TX. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and his fellowships in Cardiology and Cardio-Oncology as well as his Master of Science in Clinical Investigation (MSCI) at Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Mitchell received the Burton E. Sobel Award for Excellence in Cardiovascular Research, the COL Robert H. Moser Award, Major General Lewis A. Malogne Award, Southern Medical Association/Holt Young Physician Leadership Award, Water Reed Leonard Award for excellence in medical student teaching, Robert A. Phillips Award, NCA Quality Improvement Award, and Ho Din Award. He was a finalist in Northwestern’s Cardiovascular Young Investigators’ Forum, and American College of Physician’s Doctor’s Dilemma. He also twice won the Bronze Star Medal awarded for merit, Operation Enduring Freedom and served as the Vice President of the University of Texas Southwest chapter of Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Mitchell’s research interests include elucidating the optimal prevention, screening, and management of adverse cardiac effects from cancer therapies and improving the diagnosis and management of patients with cardiac amyloid. His research can be found in more than 70 clinical journal publications.

SPEAKER SPOTLIGHT! Dr. Prasad will present "Atrial Fibrillation: The Newest Trends and Latest Trials" at Advancing Cardiac and Neurological Care in Mississippi on March 1 at 10:30 am. You can still register for this event @ https://lnkd.in/ewn2Z8zh. Dr. Prasad is a cardiac electrophysiologist at North Mississippi Health Services and has been in practice since 2017. He specializes in diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders. He received his bachelor’s degrees in medicine and surgery from J.J.M. Medical College in Davangere, India. He completed residency training in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. He subsequently completed a fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Florida in Jacksonville. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology, and cardiac electrophysiology. Dr. Prasad serves on North Mississippi Medical Center's Institutional Review Board. He also serves as a faculty member of NMMC's Internal Medicine Residency Program, where he provides monthly lectures and has co-authored several publications with internal medicine residents. He won the program's Physician Preceptor of the Year award in 2023. In addition, he serves on the core faculty for NMMC's Cardiology Fellowship. Dr. Prasad has been part of multi-center and multi-national clinical trials in cardiology/cardiac electrophysiology as a co-investigator as well as principal investigator with publications in peer-reviewed medical journals. Outside of work, he is a sports enthusiast, particularly tennis, pickleball and biking. Dr. Joseph Stinson of North Mississippi Health Services will be presenting "Interventional Approaches to Carotid Stenosis" at our March 1 educational conference taking place at the Westin Hotel, Jackson. After medical school at the University of South Alabama, he completed his general surgery residency and a vascular surgery fellowship at The University of MS Medical Center. He relocated to Tupelo, MS to start a vascular surgery program upon completing his fellowship. Since then, he's partnered with the cardiologists and cardiac surgeons of NMMC, to bring modern vascular care to the patients of north Mississippi.
