You’re looking at the future of biotechnology ?? We hosted students from the Stanford University Chemical Engineering program for an onsite visit at Mission Barns’ HQ. Their curiosity and passion for innovation remind us why we do what we do—pioneering cultivated fat to build a more resilient food system. Through the lens of chemical engineering, we explored how bioprocess design, cell culture optimization, and a smart business model can help create a scalable, and resource-efficient food supply, for generations to come. A huge thank you to Adjunct Professor, Dr Shari Libicki, and these bright young minds for engaging in thoughtful discussions about the intersection of science, sustainability, and food innovation. The future is in great hands! ??

Scaling isn’t just a technical challenge—it also requires the right commercial strategy. For cultivated meat companies, that means combining innovation with smart financing and a scalable business model. So, how are we planning to tackle this problem at Mission Barns? Spoiler—We’re tackling this head-on with a dual business model. ? B2B: Licensing our scalable cultivated meat production platform to food manufacturers, enabling broader market reach without the heavy capital investment. ? B2C: Building our own brand with delicious cultivated meat products like meatballs, bacon, and salami in retail and foodservice allows us to go to market faster. This direct-to-consumer approach strengthens brand visibility, fosters engagement, and provides valuable insights to refine product development and marketing strategies. ?? Together, this dual business model allows us to scale faster, reduce capital burden, and maximize market impact. In our latest article, Cecilia Chang, Deputy CEO at Mission Barns, breaks down how this approach accelerates growth and drives industry adoption.

Sustainability isn’t just about the future of food—it’s about taking action today. This week, our team had the privilege of volunteering at One Living Sanctuary, an incredible climate sanctuary dedicated to protecting rescued farm animals and rewilding ecosystems. We spent the day: ? Giving belly rubs to pigs ? Removing invasive plant species to support native biodiversity ? Digging trenches to improve water flow and prevent flooding ? Giving goats back scratches ? Cleaning up after the animals to maintain a healthy space for them ? Petting horses It was inspiring to see how One Living Sanctuary combines animal welfare, habitat restoration, and climate resilience into one powerful mission. We’re grateful for the opportunity to support their work and learn from their team! If you’re looking for a meaningful way to make an impact, we highly recommend checking them out. A huge thank you to Faith Albright and the team at One Living Sanctuary for all they do! ????
