Mission Technologies, a division of HII转发了
HII remembers the lives that were lost during an unspeakable act of terrorism on our great nation more than two decades ago. Wednesday marks 23 years since the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, that resulted in the loss of thousands of lives. USS New York (#LPD21), built by Ingalls Shipbuilding, a Division of HII, was constructed using approximately seven tons of steel salvaged from the former twin towers of the World Trade Center. Two other Ingalls-built ships, USS Arlington (#LPD24) and USS Somerset (#LPD25), are named to honor the victims of 9/11 and incorporate steel from the other sites of the attacks. Today, these ships all sail to carry out our mission of protecting peace and freedom around the world. May we #NeverForget.

ICYMI: Garry Schwartz, Mission Technologies’ chief operating officer, stressed the importance of empathetic leadership on Ben Fanning’s “Lead the Team” podcast. “Trying to understand the underlying emotions behind someone’s stress is key to being able to figure out how to get them moving in the direction you want them to move,” he said in the Aug. 12 episode. “It’s a volunteer sport, right? Everybody is here because they want to be.” Schwartz said he saw thoughtful leaders in action when he served in the United States Marine Corps. Andy Green, executive vice president and president of Mission Technologies, received the game ball, presented by Navy Athletic Director Chet Gladchuk during the first home game of the season for Navy Football. ??
Game day was a success! The first home game of the season for Navy Football on Saturday was one for the books as the Navy Midshipmen emerged victorious against the Bucknell Bison 49-21.??? Andy Green, executive vice president and president of Mission Technologies, a division of HII, received the game ball, presented by Navy Athletic Director Chet Gladchuk. We also gave out thousands of cool foam hats made to look like our ships, which were a hit with fans! As the nation’s largest shipbuilder and only builder of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, HII was proud to sponsor the game and support the future Naval officers who, at some point in their career, will likely serve on one of our ships to defend our nation. Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin signed a state bill in July that will accelerate the development, testing and deployment of small modular nuclear reactors. The bill could lead to future work for HII. “The magic is in the words: small modular reactors,” said David Long, a vice president of operations at HII’s Mission Technologies division. “Knowing that we optimized modular construction on the large AP1000 plant work HII did for the Vogtle plants that are providing power to the grid today! Also knowing that our expertise at HII goes deep—we have been optimizing heavy steel modular construction at Newport News Shipbuilding for over 40 years.” While SB 454 specifically mentions Dominion Energy Virginia, HII leaders spoke in support of the legislation during the General Assembly session, and HII President and CEO Chris Kastner described it as “another important step toward expanding use of safe, reliable nuclear power to meet Virginia’s and the nation’s future energy needs.” For more information about SB 454, visit lis.virginia.gov. Third Year Marketing and Business Analytics Major - Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado
With the summer semester coming to an end, I’m thrilled to share that my 8-week internship as a Technology and Intelligence Intern at Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, has successfully come to a close. Over the past two months, I’ve had the opportunity to dive deep into Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), Data Science, and Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT). From learning the intricacies of gathering and analyzing public data to mastering data analysis techniques and exploring spatial data interpretations, this internship has been a whirlwind of knowledge and growth. A major highlight was our capstone project, where we researched and synthesized all our learning into an informative presentation. This experience was invaluable in honing my skills in presenting, public speaking, and effective group collaboration. Collaborating with my amazing team Christian Reasoner, Kalani Anderson, and Tea Giacomelli, we specifically researched and tackled China’s international information campaign and its influence on Vietnam-U.S. relations. A huge thank you to my mentors and colleagues for their guidance, support, constructive criticism, and for pushing me to think critically and creatively. Specifically Christopher Loftis, Max Spencer, Alex Lang and my team lead Natalie Ching. This internship has not only broadened my technical skills but also enhanced my ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team setting. Here’s to the next chapter and applying all that I’ve learned in future endeavors!
