What a wonderful second day of #CHFCon24! It was filled with thought-provoking discussion, presentations, and workshops (as well as some moments of fun) all centered on health equity for children through the intersection of clinical care and public health. ??Travis LeFever of Mission Mobile Medical spoke about leadership and purpose in mobile medical care.? ??????Lola Simpson of AIRnyc, and Renee Whiskey-LaLanne, MPH, MCHES and Paj’e Watts-Rogers, MPH of Montefiore Health System had a fireside chat about the crucial role that community health workers play in bridging gaps between communities and the healthcare system. ??WNYC Radio’s Michael Hill hosted a fireside chat on child immigrant health with Dr. J Raul Gutierrez and Icy Cade-Bell of UChicago Medicine. ??Robin Grossman and Basheer Smith of Playworks hosted a fun interactive play-based activity AND a session on the power of play.? ??????Project DNA’s Lisbeth Guzman, LAC and Dante Howell presented on building school communities that allow students to thrive.?? ??Dr. Cari Whitlock and Michelle Floyd Rebollo from Healthy Young Minds shared challenges and solutions in the child mental health crisis.?? ??Rosy Chhabra and Kathy Sinnett discussed strategies for addressing challenges in the school-based health model.? ????Rahil Briggs, Elizabeth Frenette, and Pamela Winkler Tew of HealthySteps from ZERO TO THREE shared evidence and success stories from their model of bringing developmental specialists into primary care. ??Many thanks to our insightful speakers and engaged attendees–you are all our partners in the movement to deliver healthcare to every child. This last week, Mission Mobile Medical went to support the work that the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NAFC) is doing all over the country! We met so many organizations that are going the extra mile helping communities that need us to step in at their doorsteps! Then Lynn Coachman, MHA and I had the opportunity to spend time with the staff of Access Family Health Services! Their staff meeting had the theme “There is no place like Access,” and it was represented through The Wizard of Oz, the classic story loved by audiences worldwide! My message was the importance of reaching the communities and expanding the health center’s mission through the addition of a mobile clinic program! Marilyn Sumerford, thank you for inviting us to speak to your wonderful staff! I can’t wait to hear the impact you will be making in the community through your mobile clinic! After, we went to visit Good Samaritan Health Services in Tupelo, a free clinic with a staff that works from their heart! What a pleasure it was visiting your clinic Hannah Maharrey! Everytime I step my foot in a free clinic, I learn about their dynamic health mission and their challenges, specifically without Medicaid expansion. Lynn Coachman, MHA, Brad Anderson, M.
