At the end of January our 1st grade students began their Grass Head and Bean Plant projects! They have been very excited to track growth and progress. When we were designing Casa Esperanza one of the things we planned for were sinks for teeth brushing! ???? Did you know that each student brushes their teeth twice while they are here at school? When you don't have running water, or even a sink at home, it can be incredibly difficult to build healthy oral habits. Consistent teeth brushing is foundational for good oral health which is critical to overall health. #dental #dentalcare #oralhealth

Moms in our community frequently share how depressed their lives feel and how much the Casa Esperanza community helps them. Here at Casa Esperanza there are so many ways they can get connected: mom’s group, exercise class, seminars, Super Saturday game time, and working together. We are thankful to have a safe space for moms to gather and build community. The feeling of love is mutual ??

Every year at the MdC Community Christmas Party, we gift families with a framed photo of their family. This year we asked a few mom's what this tradition means to them. Gaby, an MdC Cook and Mother of Students Flor and Hilari shared: "This question is emotional for me and I do not have enough words to explain. All 4 years of pictures are in my house within eyesight and every time I see them I feel very happy to have those memories and to be able to look back and see how my girls have grown and my family has improved" It has become a tradition that is important to us and our families and one we will continue each year.

Thank you Arizona Community Foundation for awarding MdC with a $15k Grant! We are excited to utilize this funding to continue addressing the root causes of migration by empowering families and educating children to escape extreme poverty on the Mexico side of the border.

We are hiring!

On the final Super Saturday of 2024, we celebrated Christmas at MdC! Families enjoyed tamales, exciting raffles, and a variety of games, including Christmas Bingo and the wrapped gift game. Each family left with a gift in hand, creating beautiful memories to close out the year. We also continued our cherished tradition of annual family photos. To top off the day, everyone built gingerbread houses adding even more festive cheer to the celebration! This year at MdC has been one of growth, change, and blessings. Casa Esperanza saw improvements, our team grew stronger, and none of this would have been possible without the support of God, our donors, and our amazing international team. We are so excited for what 2025 has in store! Check out the last photo of the cake made by Esmerelda (a woman in our community) for the celebration! She has been working hard on her baking skills.
