March is Social Work Month, and every Friday in March, we’re celebrating the incredible social workers who dedicate their lives to supporting children and families. Their passion, resilience, and commitment to justice make a world of difference, and we are so grateful for their work! This week, we’re highlighting Amanda, a powerful advocate for survivors of domestic violence and child welfare. "I’ve always believed that safety and justice shouldn’t be a privilege—it’s a basic human right. My work in domestic violence and child welfare began with a realization that systems too often fail survivors. I have lived experience in both systems, and after I was left to navigate by myself, I made a personal commitment to make sure other survivors didn’t experience what I did. I hope to inspire others to become changemakers, and I am fueled by the stories of those I serve. I see the power of shifting narratives, and I believe that we can create child- and family-centered responses that truly center survivors. Systems change takes time, but I’m surrounded by an amazing community of people at The SAFE Alliance who also believe change is possible. I am honored to lead the SAFE Futures team—keep your eyes peeled for what we have coming up next!" Compassion is at the heart of social work. Every day, social workers navigate complex systems, support families in crisis, and fight for solutions that keep children safe and thriving. We must invest in the people doing the work. The social workforce, caseworkers, family advocates, and community leaders need better tools, stronger support, and systems that empower them to create lasting change. At Miracle Foundation, we believe that when we strengthen the social workforce, we strengthen families. That means equipping professionals with real-time data, evidence-based interventions, and the resources to prevent family separation before it happens. It means ensuring they have the support they need to do this emotionally demanding work without burnout. This #SocialWorkMonth, let’s move beyond appreciation and into action. Let’s advocate for policies that prioritize family-based care. Let’s fund programs that give social workers the tools they need. And let’s recognize that real change happens when we support the people who are making it happen every day. Leading Garden of Hope of Central Texas, I focus on not only providing safety and stability for youth in foster care but also ensuring families are connected to the resources they need to succeed. My journey began in education, where I saw firsthand the challenges faced by vulnerable children. That experience inspired me to step into foster care, working to bridge gaps and create lasting support systems. One of the most powerful aspects of this work is connecting families to organizations that can assess their needs and provide real, impactful solutions—and that’s exactly what ThriveWell does. Their ability to evaluate a family’s situation and provide tailored support makes a profound difference in the lives of those we serve. Whether it’s access to healthcare, mental health resources, or essential services, ThriveWell helps ensure that families receive the right support at the right time.
