For years, women with ADHD have reported that their symptoms worsen at certain times in their cycle or during perimenopause—but research hasn’t caught up. Our latest study with Harmonise You dives into this connection, tracking hormones & ADHD traits in real-time using Mira. ?? Key findings: Low progesterone & estrogen dominance correlate with ADHD symptom flare-ups. Women with ADHD are 10x more likely to develop PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder). Histamine, which increases with estrogen, may be making symptoms even worse. Many women don’t receive an ADHD diagnosis until perimenopause, when hormones shift dramatically. ?? What does this mean? ADHD treatment strategies should consider hormonal cycles. Women might benefit from adjusting medication doses based on their cycle. Hormone tracking (like with Mira) could help women anticipate & manage symptoms before they escalate. ?? Why Mira? Participants found the Mira hormone tracking device easy to use and helpful for self-monitoring their symptoms. This suggests that hormone tracking can be a valuable tool for ADHD management—helping women better understand their cycles and predict symptom changes. ?? Study limitations This was a small-scale study (9 completed participants), self-funded with no control group. Some participants struggled with consistent tracking due to ADHD-related challenges. External factors (like December’s holiday disruptions) may have influenced data accuracy. Even with these limitations, the findings highlight the critical need for more research on the hormonal influences of ADHD in women. ?? It’s time to rethink ADHD care for women. #ADHD #WomenWithADHD #Perimenopause #PMDD #Neurodiversity

They faced barriers, challenged the status quo, and transformed healthcare. Elizabeth Blackwell earned the first U.S. medical degree for a woman, Clara Barton formed the American Red Cross, and Gerty Cori broke ground with a Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Their perseverance reshaped modern medicine and set new standards for what’s possible. This International Women’s Day, let’s honor their contributions and consider our potential to drive change. ?? Shared insights on how Mira utilizes AI in hormonal at-home monitoring. Thank you Sara Marska-Maj and Kamila Aktanova for your contribution ??
Mira is an at-home hormone tracking device that measures four key hormone levels via urine analysis and predicts fertile windows with lab-grade accuracy. Instead of just relying on calendar tracking or basic ovulation strips, Mira uses AI to analyze real hormonal data—which is especially useful for people with irregular cycles, PCOS, or hormone imbalances. Mira’s AI has been trained on over 1.2 million menstrual cycles and 20 million hormone data points. Studies show that Mira’s hormone tracking matches up with ultrasound results. In just three cycles, we can improve ovulation prediction accuracy from 29% (calendar method) to 77%. Mira claims that they have built one of the largest real-world datasets on female hormone patterns and are working with institutions like Mount Sinai Health System, Johns Hopkins Medicine, and the University of Melbourne to push forward hormonal health research. Most at-home fertility and hormone tests rely on nano-gold lateral flow assays (like pregnancy tests), which only provide qualitative results—meaning users get a simple yes/no answer without any real numbers. Mira uses a fluorescent lateral flow immunoassay, which is more sensitive and precise. Fluorescent labels offer a distinct advantage in sensitivity and precision over nano-gold assays. And fluorescent molecules emit a strong, measurable signal, which our analyzer detects with high precision, allowing for accurate quantification of hormone levels in urine samples. The FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) employs a risk-based approach to regulating AI-enabled medical devices, allowing for flexibility across various AI models. Simpler AI applications, such as those used for administrative tasks, face fewer regulatory hurdles, whereas complex AI-driven technologies, like those embedded in cardiac defibrillators, undergo stricter scrutiny. So far, the FDA has authorized nearly 1,000 AI-powered medical devices and has reviewed hundreds of regulatory submissions for AI-assisted drug discovery and development. Additionally, the concept of "Software as a Medical Device" (SaMD) is an emerging area of regulation. This framework ensures that apps and algorithm-based healthcare solutions undergo FDA approval before they can be used by patients or marketed with medical claims. As Katherine Sakovich, Mira's CMO stated: “Having an at-home testing device in the palm of your hand or a wearable to track key biomarkers completely revolutionizes healthcare from reactive to preventative. Now, patients are owners of their data, and with the help of AI can discover red flags much earlier to get care on time and save billions for the industry”. #FemTech #DigitalHealth #HealthTech #MedicalDevices #AIinHealthcare

The gender health gap is real—and it starts with a lack of data. For too long, women have been left in the dark about their own hormones. PCOS, endometriosis, anovulation—these aren’t rare occurrences, yet many go undiagnosed or misunderstood for years. Why? Because research on women’s hormonal health has been underfunded, overlooked, and deprioritized. At Mira, we’re changing that by tracking real hormone patterns and uncovering the data that should have existed decades ago. But this is just the beginning. The more we know, the more we can demand better care, better research, and better solutions. Read the report https://lnkd.in/dUyrRuZy and share it to bring awareness to others. The more we talk about it, the closer we get to closing the gap. #sexhormonesawarenessweek #hormonehealth
