Awesome work Team SparCQS! Thanks Barrett-Jackson Auction Company! This event has become a ?MIRA! at NAU annual 'MUST-DO' event! The energy, and the families are just amazing, every year just gets better and better, thank you for making STEMfest a priority!
Team SparCQS started of the International Year of Quantum with an awesome event at Barrett-Jackson Auction Company! We outfitted about 400 people with our new special edition Quantum ID Badge to honor #IYQ2025 – including a badge for Big Red from Arizona Cardinals Football Club Club and Baxter from Arizona Diamondbacks, celebrated many successes on our Cat Challenge Achievement Board, played quantum tic tac toe, and just had a blast all around with new tools and demos to make Quantum Science accessible. As always the BB84 Kit from Thorlabs was in the mix as well! Next stops for Team SparCQS: Feb 8th?in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to partner with Megan Ivory from Sandia National Laboratories for an event at Explora Science Center and Children's Museum, Feb 22 for The University of Texas at Austin's #UTSTEMGirlDay in Austin, Texas, before heading to Colorado for events in March, and later on California. A big THANK YOU to all of our partners and collaborators in these and other events, specifically: ?MIRA! at NAU, National Science Foundation (NSF) NNCI NCI-Southwest, Quantum Collaborative, Elevate Quantum, Micro Nano Technology Education Center (MNT-EC), Thorlabs Mobile Photonics Lab, SciTech Institute, National Science Foundation (NSF) ERC Center for Quantum Networks, Center for Dynamics and Control of Materials: an NSF MRSEC at The University of Texas at Austin. #IYQ2025 - here we come!

Way to go Sierra!
Undergraduate at Arizona State University studying Aerospace Engineering (Astronautics) | ASU NASA Space Grant Intern
I had the opportunity to present my research regarding the investigation of flexible perovskite solar cells for space applications at the SACNAS National Diversity in STEM conference. There was significant interest in my findings over the past six months with this project. I also tabled at this event with NCI-Southwest and ?MIRA! to inform attendees the ways to participate in nanotechnology and semiconductor fields (as it is one of the fastest growing industries in the US). Thank you to Roger Garcia , Ph.D. and TEAPOC (Technology Education and Awareness for People of Color) for sponsoring my attendance to this conference. Your generosity enabled me to expand my knowledge of academic pathways, career options, and research initiatives in engineering. I had an incredible time attending this conference. It was wonderful seeing my heritage represented and celebrated in a STEM environment!

Last week, ?MIRA! at NAU #SparCQS and PHY399 Nanoscience and Nanotechnology students and team were hosted by the Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies and received an AMAZING tour of the CINT facilities, met with world class researchers, and yep, got gowned up to tour the Integration lab, WOW!! Thank you so much Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies and a special shout out to all those who took time out of their busy schedules to meet with us: Jeff Nelson, Sergei Ivanov, Dale Huber, John Watt, and John Nogan. A special thank you to Heather Brown who made the entire visit possible. So proud to be part of such an amazing community, thank you for all you do to bring the world of nano to our communities!
