Cold weather calls for a heartwarming State Fair story! ?? For the last seven years, Makenna Hansen has participated in the University of Minnesota Extension 4-H Llama-Alpaca Project. As a result, she began showing llamas at the Minnesota State Fair four years ago! In 2023, Makenna and her llama, Bubbles, dressed up as Rapunzel and her chameleon, Pascal, for the popular 4-H Llama-Alpaca Costume Contest! Their likeness made it all the way to an ad for the 2024 State Fair. In a surprising turn of events, Makenna recognized her photo on the side of a Minnesota Valley Transit Authority bus and had her friend quickly snap a photo. To show their support at this year's fair, Makenna's family dressed in T-shirts featuring her starring moment! Thanks to the Hansen family and all our exhibitors who help us create magical Minnesota State Fair moments. ?? ??

The Minnesota State Fair is the region’s most iconic end-of-summer tradition. Twelve days of fun ending Labor Day, the Great Minnesota Get-Together annually welcomes more than 2 million guests to a world-class showcase of livestock, agriculture, horse, art, talent and creative activities competitions; 500 food items (including 80+ on-a-stick); 900 free entertainment shows by 100+ acts; Mighty Midway and Kidway; 1,000+ vendors; hundreds of demonstrations and exhibits for kids and adults; and more. The fair employs nearly 90 year-round full-time staff members. During the summer, about 450 seasonal staff are added. For the 12 days of the fair, approximately 2,300 people are hired to work for fair departments, and commercial exhibitors employ another 10,000. We hope you'll join us Aug. 22 through Sept. 2, 2024!

The 2024 Minnesota State Fair (Aug. 22 to Sept. 2) brought people together from across the state of Minnesota to?celebrate. This year’s cumulative total attendance total was?1,925,904, making it the fifth?best-attended fair ever! ???? “It’s been a phenomenal year for the Minnesota State Fair, filled with unforgettable moments and fun for everyone. This year’s fair also had its share of Minnesota weather, and the State Fair team responded by pulling together to keep people safe and to take care of the fairgrounds amidst episodes of extreme heat and humidity, rainstorms and high winds. The Great Minnesota Get-Together is truly a special event where we can celebrate all that is great about Minnesota and each other.
