The Minnesota Supreme Court is seeking two attorneys and two members of the public (non-attorneys) to fill vacancies on the 23-member Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board. The Board meets 4 times a year to consider issues involving the lawyer discipline system, including rule changes and policy implementation. Board members also preside over hearings concerning allegations of unprofessional conduct on the part of lawyers. Experience on local District Ethics Committees is desirable but not mandatory. Appointment will be for a three-year term, and the Minnesota Supreme Court will make the appointments. Citizens, members of the media, lawyers, judges, court staff, and other justice system partners interested in court record public access policy are encouraged to apply. The committee oversees the courts’ public access rules and will be reviewing the rules of access in light of the Supreme Court’s order regarding use of the Minnesota Digital Exhibit System in the Minnesota District and Appellate Courts. The committee plans to meet monthly and must issue its report and recommendations by December 1, 2025. Membership term limits have not been established but a commitment of at least one year is desired. Minnesota's Second Judicial District (Ramsey County) is seeking proposals for the provision of case management services to participants in the district's Mental Health Court program! Qualified people or organizations are encouraged to submit a proposal. To view the full Request for Proposal (RFP), please visit?https://lnkd.in/gm2_iYTS. The mission of Mental Health Court is to increase public safety by reducing recidivism among those whose criminal behaviors are attributable to mental illness. The Case Manager will assist with the intake and acceptance of referrals into Mental Health Court, monitor compliance with treatment recommendations and court conditions for participants, and work closely with team members to provide comprehensive supervision to referrals and participants. A full description of the Case Manager's responsibilities can be found in the Request for Proposal (RFP). Proposals should be submitted no later than November 18, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. CST. Proposals should be either emailed as a PDF attachment or mailed with two (2) paper copies in a sealed envelope. The email address and mailing address are listed in the RFP document. Congratulations to the Honorable Elizabeth G. Bentley, who took the oath of office yesterday as a judge on the Minnesota Court of Appeals! ? During a formal investiture ceremony yesterday, Judge Bentley was introduced by United States Senator Amy Klobuchar and Judge Bentley’s husband Andrew M. Bentley. The oath of office was administered by Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor from the Supreme Court of the United States. The ceremony featured remarks from Minnesota Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan, Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Natalie Hudson, and Minnesota State Bar Association Treasurer Kenya Bodden. Other key features from the ceremony were The Presentation of Colors by the Girl Scouts of Minnesota River Valleys, a land acknowledgement from Judge Sarah Wheelock of the Minnesota Court of Appeals, and a musical performance by Judge Bentley’s Law Clerks Katie Ray Werner and Isabel Park.
