Build with Strength - Build with Concrete!

关于我们

The Minnesota Concrete Council (MCC) is dedicated to advancing education, technical practice, scientific investigation and research into cast-in-place construction by organizing the efforts of its members for a non-profit public service. Membership represents design, construction and support industries associated with reinforced and post-tensioned concrete construction. MCC was created to bring proven methods and new ideas together, and educate its members on how to improve the quality and use of concrete in our structures, and to educate the decision-makers on the benefits of quality concrete construction.

It is with a heavy heart to inform our construction community and family that Jim Grothaus, Senior Business Development Engineer, passed away suddenly this past week. We are stunned by this tragic loss; Jim has been an integral part of our Cemstone family for the past 3 years. Prior to joining our Business Development Team in 2021, Jim worked for the University of Minnesota and Hancock Concrete Products. For those of you who had the pleasure of working with Jim, you already know of his strong work ethic, commitment to his fellow coworkers, and dedication to the transportation industry that truly made him such an important member of the team and joy to work with. His dad jokes delivered daily smiles and joys to those that knew him. Jim was a person’s person who seemed to know everyone and everyone knew him. His work in the transportation field is well known and respected by his many colleagues and friends. His efforts at Cemstone exposed our company and the products we offer to new opportunities in the municipal markets, and he will be missed. Outside of the office, Jim was a very dedicated husband and father. Any chance he had, Jim proudly cheered his children on from the sidelines, always looking to tell you of their successes. Jim enjoyed entertaining with his wife and industry friends. Our thoughts are with Jim’s wife, Amy, their children, and the rest of the Grothaus family. James (Jim) H. Grothaus, P.E.

  • Earlier this week, the Minnesota Concrete Council Board President, John D. Lee, P.E., and Member Engagement/Communications Committee member, Elena Youngdale joined the University of Minnesota ASCE group and Concrete Canoe team for what turned out to be a mutually beneficial evening! John and Elena educated the students on their journeys into the world of cast-in-place concrete, and how their involvement in the Minnesota Concrete Council has benefited them as individuals and in their careers. Then it was the student's turn, some of them current and past MCC scholarship recipients, to showcase their hard work and education in handling concrete as they created their concrete canoe! The Minnesota Concrete Council appreciates these opportunities to go before students to share with them what they might not know now, and what might help them in their future careers. MCC has supported not only the students but has been an ongoing supporter of the concrete canoe as well! A huge thank you to the ASCE group and the students for inviting us to share with you!

  • Although the sun is shining and the ice fishing conditions gone for the season, we can't help but share this video done by Allie Bodeman who works for Duininck Concrete! This video gives a glimpse to how fun networking with your fellow industry colleagues can be really fun! So fun, the event sold out and we have committed to doing it again next year! Thanks to the sponsors and people that attended to make this event all that it could be!
