Support MAVA’s statewide efforts in building capacity for nonprofit organizations to serve more community members, welcome and support new volunteers, and increase their impact! Although it feels like our work is never done and we know there is always more to do, we also need to pause and celebrate what’s been done! Here are a few ways that MAVA has demonstrated our commitment to community-centered values and driving impact through capacity building in 2024: We’ve provided capacity-building training and resources to 503 organizations? We’ve supported 311 organizations in increasing their organizational capacity We’ve supported organizations in recruiting 4,083 volunteers Provided continuous support, training and wrap-around services to 26 organizations that report that their volunteers have served 54,000 hours With your support, we can continue celebrating these outcomes and our impact, in communities across our great state! His mission is to forge leaders who value diversity, equity, and inclusion as cornerstones of success. We know that the goal is not to rid ourselves of biases; but to neutralize, pivot, and own (NPO) our biases to shift our responses in situations where biases exist. He’s received degrees from two universities in the Boston area despite a thorny relationship with the realm. He has lived in the Colorado mountains, the Tennessee mountains, and the Minnesota not-mountains. He taught middle and high-school literature at the end of the last century and taught creative writing at Minneapolis’ Loft Literary Center at the dawn of this century. Since 2000 he has been a firefighter/EMT with the Minneapolis Fire Department. He has a strong stomach and a grim sense of humor. He won a spelling bee in second grade. It’s been a long, slow decline ever since. Norton writes about the intersection of the systemic and the individual, examining the tensions and challenges of people trying to exist and thrive within daunting larger structural forces.."
