Our Leadership Twin Cities cohort came together for their Arts Day at the Solar Arts Building in the Northeast Arts District of Minneapolis. These 55 leaders from local business, nonprofits, and governments have committed to expanding their awareness of critical issues and better engaging in the community to make a positive impact. On this day, we discussed the economic value of art, how art can help leaders better communicate, how to better support local artists, and how to better engage in the arts in the Twin Cities. We also enjoyed making our own art, hearing about the building's history, and engaging with local artists in their studios. Thanks to our guest speakers: strategic consultant Brenda Kayzar, PhD, CEO of Neka Creative Rosemary Ugboajah, Co-Founder of Capsule Aaron Keller, Director of Economic Opportunity at Springboard for the Arts Wone Vang, Director of Arts & Cultural Affairs at the City of Minneapolis Ben Johnson, Solar Arts Building owner Duane Arens and local artist Anita White. Thanks to our volunteer alumni: Corey J. Sax, Pizza Luce; Grace K. Rose, Goff Public; Madelyn Browne, Consolidated Communications; Lisa Anderson, Quality Bicycle Products; Seth Tenpenny, Rise Baking Company Karla Henderson, Project for Pride in Living (PPL) and Matthew Koncar, Rose Hill Stay-at-Home Services. And thanks to our program sponsors: Huntington National Bank and Target.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at The Market at Malcolm Yards and made Find Your Cause a success! We welcomed 90 enthusiastic attendees, who connected with a diverse array of nonprofit organizations and volunteered to make teddy bear towels and school supply kits. The engagement was outstanding, with nonprofits leaving having positive interactions with attendees. We want to express our gratitude to our amazing co-hosts, Leadership Twin Cities and Young Professionals of Minneapolis, and to all the organizations that took part. This event couldn’t have happened without your commitment and partnership. Here’s to making meaningful connections and growing our impact together!

The Minneapolis Regional Chamber hosted a timely event earlier this week focused on overcoming division during this election season and beyond. Our panel had an earnest and at some moments hilarious conversation. Shannon Watson started with a great presentation about what division means on a very human level (see link below)?and then the conversation shifted to how to have those tough family dinner conversations post-election.?Additional high points from the discussion included the value of listening, modeling behavior for the next generation, running for office and getting to the polls. Thanks to Jen Hellman, Amy Koch, Amy Anderson and Shannon Watson?for bringing your perspectives forward and to all that attended the Executive Women’s Council luncheon. https://lnkd.in/dKytMu_E
