This weekend, Destination Cleveland rolled out the red carpet for the member organizations of The Joint Commission on Sports Medicine and Science for their Annual Meeting, welcoming us to "The Land." ?? The Cavs dominated the Knicks and I could have spent an entire day at the Rock Hall ?????. Our behind-the-scenes tours of the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine were fantastic.?It was fascinating to get an insider's look at the cutting-edge technology and incredible medical advancements being made right there that are helping millions of people across the world. Special shout out to Urban Squash and Spice hospitality for a fantastic evening, being immersed in the game of Squash, and enjoying one of THE most delicious (and healthy!) meals I’ve ever eaten! Chef Ben Bebenroth is incredible and I highly recommend Spice for any catering needs you may need in Cleveland. Cleveland has a unique blend of Midwest charm and big-city energy that just draws you in. There is so much to offer in terms of as a meeting destination for groups, whether it’s medical and/or sports-related, or not! The downtown has such an ease of access with the hotels, sporting venues, and museums all being so close to LEED Gold? Certified Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland. ?The center has its own on-site farm, of which the produce, eggs, herbs, and honey go straight into their banquet menus, creating a literal farm to table experience! ????? Aloha, friends! ?? I recently had the opportunity to experience an incredible FAM trip hosted by KSL Resorts at the newly reimagined Outrigger Kona Resort?on the Big Island of Hawaii. From the moment I stepped onto the property, I was struck by the resort's stunning natural beauty and its deep connection to the island's rich cultural heritage. The newly renovated guest rooms and public spaces seamlessly blend modern amenities with traditional Hawaiian design elements, creating a truly unique and authentic experience. One of the highlights of the trip was the chance to go snorkeling with giant manta rays. These magnificent creatures gracefully danced mere inches from us, seemingly unfazed by our presence. It was a truly awe-inspiring moment! ?? ??Blue Hawaiian Helicopters took us on a trip which offered breathtaking bird's-eye views of the island, including rainforests, waterfalls, and volcanic landscapes. Not to mention the added bonus of not only witnessing two different types of dolphin pods playing in the waters below us, but flying above a “full circle” rainbow, giving us a truly “Somewhere over the Rainbow” moment! ?? ?? Of course, no trip to the Big Island would be complete without a visit to a coffee farm to see where the amazing 100% Kona Coffee comes from! It was easy to see why Greenwell Farms has won many, many awards over the years! ? Throughout the trip, I was struck by Outrigger's commitment to preserving and celebrating the island's rich cultural heritage. The resort really provides countless opportunities for guests to immerse themselves in the local way of life. This FAM was a transformative experience that left me with a deep appreciation for the natural beauty and cultural richness of the Big Island. It's a truly unique and unforgettable destination. I’m a story teller. Recently, while traveling for work, I was sharing some details about a venue that I’d visited several times as a kid and also an adult. The response from the small group was the same. Unfamiliar, yet intrigued. I found myself rushing through the details as if what I was saying was old news or irrelevant. I also caught myself in that moment wondering why I was rushing. The term “gift to gab” has followed me, but I’m beginning to view that as an advantage. I do have a gift! It typically proceeds my type A personality, but I’m embracing what makes me unique. I’m the person that greets people in the elevator with “good morning ” or a quick comment to lessen the awkward staring at the illuminated buttons or phone. Making other people feel at ease by being the first to break the silence; that’s me! I’m a salesperson!! That’s not a bad word! Providing solid resources that will enhance the client’s life makes me happy! For years I have been “the connector” and I thrive on making those matches; regardless of a paycheck. That’s me. Not afraid of small talk, taking chances, and making new friends in the elevator. And the venue I was sharing details about?
