Another awesome Give Back event with Simpson Strong-Tie! Our corporate programs continue to help us build capacity and amplify our work in schools and communities – plus they're so fun! We're so excited to partner with Carondolet High School once again to bring our Youth Leadership program onsite for current and prospective students! Girls will practice leadership skills, engage in community service, and explore ways to create impact with compassion and purpose. Event is open to 5th-8th grade girls. And that’s a wrap! Last week our 6th Annual Peace & Kindness Carnival showcased feel-good, kindness themed games and activities like Peace Plates and the Spin to Breathe Wheel, the Bedazzled Bottle Toss where kids take a deep inhale and a long exhale before they toss the ring, plus other games and an awesome gratitude service project. We're so grateful to our partner, Orinda Parks & Rec, who helps us bring the carnival to the final Concert in the Park event. Thank you as well to our incredible sponsors, local businesses Penserra and Lamorinda Tooth Buds Pediatric Dentistry, for supporting the event once again this year. Our teen leaders and Lion's Heart volunteers engaged so beautifully with families, role modeling and guiding, while adult volunteers helped set up and run the carnival. The energy rippled with true joy highlighting what Mindful Littles is all about: compassion, connection, community. Wow! Thanks to sponsorships and donations from Lamorinda Tooth Buds Pediatric Dentistry and General Mills, almost 60 kids and grown-ups assembled both dental and food kits for a total of 373 Nourishment Kits! These kits go to shelters and food banks to help those in need. To make Mindful Community Service magic happen, we rely on corporate sponsors and donors. Looking for mindful parenting resources, she stumbled upon a Mindful Littles flyer on a Starbucks community board promoting our first fundraiser in San Francisco. Moved immediately by the mission of Mindful Littles, Desiree took the initiative to attend our event. Since that synchronistic connection, Desiree has been an active donor, volunteer, impact advisor, parent participant and now board member. Experience the connection between mindfulness and nourishment with Mindful Littles founder and CEO Tanuka Gordon at the CalKidz Anti-Hunger Summit February 15! Tanuka will lead practices throughout the day as participants collaborate on ways to reduce hunger for California’s north-state county kids. Additional presenters include community partners Butte County Office of Education, North State Food Bank, California State University, Chico and others. Event is in person or via Zoom.
